I love going to see plays. But do you? Or do you think the theatre is for troglodytes and that film is the ONE TRUE dramatic medium?

I ask as I'm having to research ticket prices for the autumn season at the Bush theatre in, er, Shepherd's Bush. I've only been there once before to see a play called 'The Bogus Woman' which was utterly fantastic, made even more so by the fact that you can only get about 20 people in the room so the whole performance was a lot more intimate. My favourite play I've seen is a coin toss between 'Endgame' (Beckett) and 'Chairs' (Eugene Ianesco, if I remember correctly).

The theatre is great. But at the end of the day, only small experimental plays in tiny venues are any good because there's not really any point going to a big theatre to watch little people do their thing onstage half a mile away.

six years pass...

I'm an actor/singer as a hobby...

I auditioned for a show I've done twice already (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) at this theatre I normally hate because they're bushleague. I did it because 5 or more of my friends showed up so we can hijack the show.

When I filled out the application, it asked for address. Not wanting to get back on their mailing list, I wrote my neighbor's address on there.

The fuckers decided to announce casting by mail! I've never heard of anybody in this area doing that (the standard is phone call...some might do a posted list or an email, but never SNAIL MAIL!)

btw when I say hijack the show, I don't mean ruin it, I mean I have more confidence that it will be good because it's 5 friends of mine who are talented and have done the show before.
