Tell me about a place you love that probably should've been redecorated, remodeled, restored or just demolished YEARS AGO but hasn't, and remains in a condition that allows you to glimpse a past that's slipped away everywhere else.

I'm thinking of places like this supermarket (I've never been there, but I know stores just like it on Long Island.)

This sort of thing happens a lot iin Cornwall, where no-one can be bothered redeveloping anything, but the end result is more of a slow degradation, and a lot of corrugated iron. More pertinent to the question, I remember when I was v. small there was this ancient chemists with the wonderful name of Woollatt and Coggin, something of a scary Aladdin's Cave it was run by this bent over little old guy with round glasses. Then a superdrug opened, and that was the end of the that.
