Six more moons spotted orbiting Jupiter

CNN.com Saturday, April 5, 2003

Okay, enough already. Don't you hate self-important planets that flaunt their moons just because they happen to be the biggest in the solar system? I mean there are other planets out their with moons...hello?!? Jupiter is always bragging about its new moons. Two new moons discovered, one more moon discovered...whoops! Did I say one? I meant six!

What do you name the moons of a planet that has everything? Or other heavenly bodies?

Current Moons of Jupiter:
Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto (inter alia)

apparently when Galileo discovered the first 4 his work was being financed by the wealthy Medici family and so he named the moons the Medician Stars in their honour. However, as all previous objects in the solar system had been named after characters from classical mythology, it was unsurprising that this name didn't last.
