Roll up! Roll up! Come one, come all! The party to end all parties...

Erm, well, no, actually, it's my birthday later this week. And The Lollies are playing one last farewell gig before they "retire from public performance" Beatles-stylee. And so we're having a big party to celebrate all this.

Where: The Windmill, Brixton - Blenheim Gardens, off Brixton Hill (about half a mile South of Brixton Station)
When: Wednesday, 9th April, 8pm till ???
Other Details: It's being sponsored by Drowned in Sound, so there will be a £3 cover charge on the door

There will also be public appearances by Whoreton/Hilton and his band! And my "sister" from Detroit. And maybe even the Handsome Soundartist!

So, erm, yeah, come on down if you don't hate fun and you're around London on that day. Have I forgotten anything? I don't think so.

kate, Monday, 7 April 2003 12:00 (twenty-two years ago)

dang, I can't fly to London on a Wednesday.

hstencil, Monday, 7 April 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahhh... so sad it's the last show! And in London! But Happy Pre-Birthday, kate, and have fun partying down. Wish I could come and meet your cast of characters (ie: Hiltonetc.)

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Monday, 7 April 2003 12:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate, I'd love to do your horrorscope as a birthday gift. Email me with your data if you're interested, and when I get my program running i'll get back to you on it!!

Vic, Monday, 7 April 2003 12:09 (twenty-two years ago)

::bump::

it's my thread and I'll hype it if I want to, etc. ...

kate, Monday, 7 April 2003 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

kate, a couple people dropped out from the Derby PartyVan action, so do you wanna be flown over?

hstencil, Monday, 7 April 2003 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Awww, gee, thanks, but I'm going to have to say no. I'd never actually get the time off work. :-(

Have fun, though!

kate, Monday, 7 April 2003 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

*sheds a silent tear*

Have a great farewell show and birthday, kate!

hstencil, Monday, 7 April 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Is this really the final show? Ah well! The next step is the supergroup that takes over the world! :-) Hope it goes well!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 April 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

what kind of music do the lollies play?

is it experimental?

RJG (RJG), Monday, 7 April 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Har har har har har har har!!!

No. Handsome Soundartist hasn't had that quick of an effect on me. We're as experimentalist as milk. Pop musique, but of course.

kate, Monday, 7 April 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I like milk.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 7 April 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I like milk, too. But it's not very experimental, is it?

If you'd wanted Experimental, you should have come to the Handsome Soundartist's installation yesterday.

kate, Monday, 7 April 2003 14:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I think first human to drink the milk from a cow was being pretty experimental.

I only asked because you always seem to be looking for experimentalism/something.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 7 April 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah. Ironic, isn't it?

kate, Monday, 7 April 2003 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

do the lollies play ironic music?

RJG (RJG), Monday, 7 April 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes.

And I hate irony. Even more ironic, isn't it?

kate, Monday, 7 April 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, almost.

: )

RJG (RJG), Monday, 7 April 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate, That site you linked me to never let me follow through with my Lollies purchase - I kept getting errors. Is it for sale somewhere else online?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Argh, more reasons to hate yer record company... Sigh. You could try Rough Trade, I know that they were doing mail order for it when it came out! There were several online companies that were doing it, though I can't recall any specifics. Try googling "taste the lollies" and see if any pop up that aren't our website.

Sorry, I'd do it, but I'm in the process of writing a nasty mail to our record company to try and get them to pay up.

kate, Monday, 7 April 2003 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw the CD in fopp on union street for fifteen pounds and, second hand, in missing on oswald street for five pounds.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks, RJG, but I'm in the US. I'll try running a search then.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

We were in FOPP? Oh, that is cool, I'm glad, coz I like FOPP. However, that does make me realise what a bloody scam distributors are! That record was retailing for £10 online! So someone is making a 50% markup profit! Humph!

kate, Monday, 7 April 2003 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

THanks, kate. I just ordered it from Rough Trade

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Email me when you get it, Sarah, because I respect yer taste in music, and I'd be very interested to hear what you think! (Actually, don't email me if you HAAAAAATE it... I'd be shattered!)

kate, Monday, 7 April 2003 15:40 (twenty-two years ago)

anthony easton (anthony), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Erm... I don't see why not. We were doing it with the early EP's. Let me ask Jane and get back to you.

Happy Birthday, Kate!!

lyra (lyra), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Quite a run for a woman who swore of the music industry what, 4 years ago. Then she goes and picks up a different industry joins a band that gets into the top 20 or so on Canadian Campus radio from coast to coast, debuting higher then GYBE and charting higher the Radiohead that month didn't you?
#1 in New Brunswick and BC with only maybe 2 shows int he province.

And they break up.
Im assuming you got another thing in the works, one bandmate joining Chriss TTs? and the the drummer does what?

Oh well.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 01:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Sonny, you're not coming? YOU SUCK, YOU SUCK YOU SUCK YOU SUCK!!! If you don't come to my party, you CAN'T BE MY FRIEND!!! Sniff.

kate, Tuesday, 8 April 2003 07:10 (twenty-two years ago)

And Noodles, please. This is not the place to be speculating on the future of my bandmates. Please take it on 22! And don't go starting unfounded rumours...

kate, Tuesday, 8 April 2003 07:11 (twenty-two years ago)

HBK!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 08:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Aren't They Came From the Stars (..I saw them) and S.Rock Levinson also playing???

nick.K (nick.K), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes. S.Rock Levinson are indeed playing! Hooray!

But I think I've given They Came From The Stars (I Shagged Them) quite enough free press already so Whoreton and his mob can go fuck themselves.

KATE, Tuesday, 8 April 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

They should so change their name to that.

Let's see, cost of plane ticket to London for tomorrow.. (blanches).. well, have a lovely party!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm skint but if I start walking now I might make it on time....Have a Great Time!

smee (smee), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

::BUMP::

Man, not only do I have to start my OWN birthday thread, but I've got to keep it going, too. You all HAAAAAATE me, don't you?

kate, Tuesday, 8 April 2003 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Why no! But I can't make it, so I will toast you in absentia.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 15:32 (twenty-two years ago)

kate doesn't like toast

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 15:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't make it either, but I will toast at my show tonight. Gwan.

sean paul (Mark P), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 15:34 (twenty-two years ago)

This isn't your fucking birthday thread. You'll know your birthday thread when you see it.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 15:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, Kate. I have a date tomorrow. Obviously I'd blow off most people for you, but I really like this woman. I expect you'll just about manage to have fun without me...

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

What, a Lollies show isn't a good date?

Wish I could be there, Kate. I mean, I have my date Wednesday night too, so. And also you live on the other side of the planet.

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Happy 22nd Birthday Kate.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate, you're only 22???

Happy Pre-Birthday!

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Not a perfect first date with this woman, I think, Chris.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate's age is one of life's grebt mysteries...I thought she was 22, then she posted something 'bout being old enuff to be Goldsmith stoodies' mothers....

Anyway, sorry I can't be there, as I'm sure it'll be grebt.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

You played the Windmill before? Check the soundman they got down there - complete and utter dude though disturbingly out of his brain. How the guy manages to get such a great sound of the kit they have there, whilst nuturing a rampant love of snorting aerosols beats the hell out of me but you gotta love him.

Alex K (Alex K), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 08:09 (twenty-two years ago)

**Obviously I'd blow off most people for you...**

MARTIN!!!! CONTROL YOURSELF!!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 08:14 (twenty-two years ago)

it's funny because it's.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 08:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't make it sadly, as I have to spend this evening finding a place to live :(

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 08:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't make it as I live in the middle of a bloody desert. (P.S. Kate yr new band should come tour here RIGHT NOW)

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 08:39 (twenty-two years ago)

matt, i might, just might have something for you. to email

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 09:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, if you find an age you like you stick with it.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok. I like my age now so I'll stay with 25.

Sarah Mclusky (coco), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Muhahaha! (This almost ended up on the hockey thread.)

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate is very, very lucky I can't seem to find The Plungers home page via google.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

How was it?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 10 April 2003 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i was sitting in a doctors reception today leafing through jan 03 copy of "vogue" when on the "Vogue loves...." page it stated Vogue loves the lollies.

you may already know this but i thought i would share it - i was pleased for you.

james (james), Monday, 14 April 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes! Our press person mailed it to me last month! I was soooooo happy when that came out! Had it pinned to our message board for ages. (Until it started to get stained with Thing.)
