Sorry to semi-spam ILX with this, but does anyone fancy FAPing at How Does it Feel to be Loved? next Thursday night (17th)?

There'll be lots of classic indie, motown and northern nonsense, cheap beer and no doubt available and attractive people of your sexual persuasion (or vice versa). It'd be great to see some of you down there - it's HDIF's first birthday, and a bank holiday the next day so you don't need to worry about sleep or sobriety :)

LoveD. Gah. Why do I never proofread the title?

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 11 April 2003 09:31 (twenty-two years ago)

classic indie

gareth (gareth), Friday, 11 April 2003 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

northern nonsense

erik, Friday, 11 April 2003 09:52 (twenty-two years ago)

''classic indie, motown''?!?!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 11 April 2003 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you might have fooled Gareth into thinking your going to play some Adorable records, Mark.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 11 April 2003 09:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd play adorable records

chris (chris), Friday, 11 April 2003 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I ph34r you would be scuppered by obergruppenfuhrer's I*n W*ts*n's Indie Diktat of 1986, cabs.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 11 April 2003 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

what were the Cabs doing in 1986? "The Covenant, the Sword & the Arm of the Lord",possibly.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 11 April 2003 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

that is very near my house but i am still out of weed

dave q, Friday, 11 April 2003 10:34 (twenty-two years ago)

This is nowhere near my house. If it was near my house I'd be there every time, instead of once every four months or so :(

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

But are you coming this time, MarkH? Is anyone?

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, can I plug my club (which is tomorrow) too?

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't there another club that always seems to coincide with HDIF? If that wants a plug too, go right ahead :)

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I ph34r you would be scuppered by obergruppenfuhrer's I*n W*ts*n's Indie Diktat of 1986, cabs.

it's exactly this sort of thing that puts me off going to the night in the first place

chris (chris), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh for fuck's sake.

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't cry/become enraged, Mark. I should think I'll be there as per. I must say, Dickon's DJ skeelz at the last one (while you were finding things to do in Denver) were phenomenal, so you'll have to go a bit to match him this time. Of course, you are prettier, so that's a plus.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Not at the moment. I have an ill-advised 4-day goatee.

Anyway, Chris, if you weren't scarpering up the M40 you could have danced to my songs while standing, arms folded, facing the wall when I*n DJed. Or do a dirty protest.

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:38 (twenty-two years ago)

ive just had a look, its only 10 minutes walk from my house. i may pop along to hear some adorable records

gareth (gareth), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark, it's just that when I hear about diktats being laid down about what music should be played by one person, I hardly feel like I'm hearing a number of djs records, instead just one person's taste. It sounds like good taste I must admit but, I dunno, it just puts me off a bit.

I won't be there though, it's too late in a month that included ATP and a trip home the next day.

chris (chris), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Now I always enjoy going to HDIFTBL, but unfortunately can't make it on this occasion as I shall be on a train to Newcastle (visiting gf's parents for Easter). Whenever I go to HDIFTBL I always seem to arrive early and find myself wondering how I can manage to reserve a table in the Famous Cock Tavern for the horde of ppl whom I know are going to be arriving later on.

That name is kinda odd. Why is the Cock famous? Or is it the Tavern which is famous?

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd probably have been to one if it wasn't on a thurs night, but I'm a wus and need my sleep and need to remain un-hungover at work.

But as you've just said Mark, I'm going to be zooming up the M1/M6 on the one HDIFTBL when I don't have work the next day.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

That name is kinda odd. Why is the Cock famous?

Lady, if you have to ask...

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Would like to come as it sounds great, but it's a bit of a way to go from Cambridge. :-( I'll be there in spirit though.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 11 April 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

W*ts*n's = Whitesnake?

jel -- (jel), Friday, 11 April 2003 13:07 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a bit indie for me, and while there may well be many attractive people there, they would all consider me too old for them.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 11 April 2003 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

not intellectually.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 11 April 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

No, my mental immaturity might be another problem, true.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 11 April 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

i've always been tempted by this ...what time does it go on till? cos i'm working , but i swing right by there on my way home.

jeanne picot (jeanne picot), Sunday, 13 April 2003 02:56 (twenty-two years ago)

It goes on till 2, I think. It's only £3 to get in, too, so come! I'll be the bald DJ with the big nose (see the "what do you look like" thread for a more accurate description) - come and say hello!

Mark C (Mark C), Sunday, 13 April 2003 09:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I suppose someone should mention that it is of course Good Friday the following day, therefore most people should be able to bemoan their ruin from the comfort of their own homes the next morning.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 April 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

two years pass...
i am thinking about going to one of these again soon

Tim (Tim), Monday, 26 September 2005 13:18 (nineteen years ago)

I thought about going! But I didn't!

Lucretia My Reflection (Lucretia My Reflection), Monday, 26 September 2005 13:55 (nineteen years ago)

ken c (ken c), Monday, 26 September 2005 14:16 (nineteen years ago)

CHEAP BEER???????????????????????????????????????????????????????

ken c (ken c), Monday, 26 September 2005 14:32 (nineteen years ago)

Yup. At the Buffalo bars for a while they had some kind of £1.50 offer - was it time- or stock-limited, maybe? But yeah, the beer was cheap.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 26 September 2005 15:13 (nineteen years ago)

oh yes i remember that now! it was before 10 or something? or was it a particular beer? you order the wrong thing and it costs you £2.80 a bottle.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 26 September 2005 15:29 (nineteen years ago)

gareth sorry i was away from my computer last night. chat later perhaps!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 27 September 2005 10:05 (nineteen years ago)

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 13:37 (nineteen years ago)

four months pass...
its at nambucca now?

terry lennox. (gareth), Monday, 27 February 2006 17:12 (nineteen years ago)

I thought it was at the Windmill. But that could just be the band nights?

Boris and the Johnsons (kate), Monday, 27 February 2006 17:14 (nineteen years ago)

oh, yes, that sounds right. bands at windmill, and the club night at nambucca, and somewhere else, i think

terry lennox. (gareth), Monday, 27 February 2006 17:34 (nineteen years ago)

Some place in WC1, I think? Possibly that place on... errr... what's the name of the Square behind John Lewis? It used to be called the Phoenix at one point. Not even sure if that's where it is.

Boris and the Johnsons (kate), Monday, 27 February 2006 17:45 (nineteen years ago)

It's still called the Phoenix - myself and a friend took a look down there with a club proposal of our own but the bastards never got back to us.

HDIF doesn't really NEED this many venues, does it?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 27 February 2006 18:12 (nineteen years ago)

don't tangle with the London Indie Mafia

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Monday, 27 February 2006 18:13 (nineteen years ago)

it's not at the phoenix anymore, last month was the final one, at the phoenix.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 27 February 2006 18:34 (nineteen years ago)

and haha it is at the nambucca now! finally. a karaoke -> hdif night out.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 27 February 2006 18:35 (nineteen years ago)

3rd fridays are at the nambucca. first friday of the month is at brixton but not the windmill (canterbury arms)

ken c (ken c), Monday, 27 February 2006 18:36 (nineteen years ago)

We will find out soon enough!

::lays finger aside nose::

Boris and the Johnsons (kate), Monday, 27 February 2006 19:34 (nineteen years ago)

but i kind of know already

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 00:24 (nineteen years ago)

Are people thinking of going soon, then? I've not been for a long long time. And I usually like it.

JimD (JimD), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 00:34 (nineteen years ago)

i'm deffo going to go the next time it is at nambucca. (i.e. 3rd friday of this month!)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 00:41 (nineteen years ago)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 00:42 (nineteen years ago)

Bah, third friday of march clashes with the first night of the new popjustice club night!

JimD (JimD), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 00:42 (nineteen years ago)

but isn't that weekly?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 01:25 (nineteen years ago)

It is, but I thought I'd go along to the first one to see what it was like. Also, it's cheap.

JimD (JimD), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 02:29 (nineteen years ago)

...or maybe we won't. :-(

Boris and the Johnsons (kate), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 10:11 (nineteen years ago)
