Perfect Evenings

What is your idea of a perfect evening? Is it going clubbing or staying in with some dvds? Going our for dinner or going to a gig? etc This evening I am going to meet my friend's new baby who was born yesterday. To me that's pretty perfect. However, I usually enjoy alot more alcohol on my perfect evenings... So come on, tell me all, what do you think?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 11 April 2003 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Or, what are u up to this w/e?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm home alone this weekend, so tonight = QNI, accompanied by Champ manager. Tomorrow = 3rd dvision footy day. Sunday = not much, maybe some FA cup semi final action.

chris (chris), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Brother is home from London for the weekend tonight with his wife. They are in at 9 and I was going to collect them but it seems my friends have been planning a monster night out at the local pub, the occasion being "we haven't been out since last friday".

It's fair enough though cos I really wanted to out every day this week and they were all staying in doing work for college. So it's time to make up for that.

Tomorrow I am not sure, maybe go into town in the daytime and have lunch and or beers with some friends, see what my brother's doing Saturday night, maybe go clubbing or just stay in and take another brain saving week off.

Sunday, laze around house, maybe make my dinner on the barbecue if it's nice, laze around some more, play PS2, laze around some more.

A good movie. A good meal. A couple of drinks, but only a couple. Someone I really like. (Does this person exist?!)

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Perfect evening: wine, cheese, hommous, cocktail franks, wine, chocolate, bath, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex in that order.

I've also got the b/f's little sister & nephews for the w/e and we're going to a wildlife park, which i'm quite excited about, prob more so that the kids.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, kids aside, wouldn't you like to know is so, so right!!!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I do share chris's Championship Manager fixation (spent the whole of yesterday evening coming up with training schedules - shoot me now), but perfect evenings are spent with a couple of mates drinking wine and listening to class tunes, along with a soupcon of classic banter. So, erm, most thursdays, then.

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I wouldn't mention sex in the this equation. I'm not that optimistic!

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

then don't.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

But it is the 'perfect' evening - not the 'most realistic' evening.

Wouldn't you like to know (Amused), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I like to play rock shows and go to other people's rock shows, but not every single night. I like lots of down time- walking around window shopping on pretty days or gardening, watching movies, reading books, doing something crafty like scrapbooking or making bracelets or designing fliers, recording music to 8-track... that sort of thing. I like to drink sometimes, but I tend to get really drunk really fast and then I fall asleep early on.

This weekend I'm playing 2 shows, one of which we're sharing the stage with N's band too. I plan to laze around the rest of the weekend. And enjoy the sun since it's been raining ALL WEEK LONG.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to go for a walk around Cheesman park tonight with my boyfriend. That sounds pretty perfect to me. Then maybe a Ginger Martini at The Thin Man, sitting out on the patio, chainsmoking and getting giggly drunk.

Mandee, Friday, 11 April 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

This is a bit of an open-ended weekend really... a few drinks for a mate's birthday tonight, then I'm planning on mooching around for the rest of the weekend. My housemate's moving out on Sunday so I daresay there'll be some mentalism involved there.

I'm really looking forward to when it gets warm enough to spend evenings sitting outside, in the park, drinking beer and talking rubbish for hours on end as the sun goes down.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 11 April 2003 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Getting really drunk and hitting on girls who don't mind is fun. Almost the most fun night I ever had was the first time I got stoned, and all I did was go out with my friend STV and get nachos at the Keg (he had gift certificates and didn't make me chip in for the dope).

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 11 April 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Gift certificates for drugs! Wow!

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 11 April 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha! We're not quite that liberal here!

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 11 April 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, where can we get those?

My perfect evening right now would be: nice meal with boyf & friends (not too much to eat though, coz then I go into slob mode and don't wanna leave the restaurant), then a couple of nice pubs, then on to a club to dance the buckles off my shoes all night with my best mate while boyf fuels us with booze, then home for sex sex sex sex etc etc etc

smee (smee), Friday, 11 April 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

In reality my evening will probably go: Meet up with some friends at a bar to see some local band play, sit awkwardly at the bar half the night, drinking far too much, going home and falling asleep in a pathetic heap--waking up Saturday morning and thinking: I WASTED MY FRIDAY NIGHT!

Mandee, Friday, 11 April 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Realistically, I'll sit around reading or watching TV or messing around online.

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Friday, 11 April 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Tonight, Ally C is going to cook me sausages with waffle chips and salad. I will supply pudding. Not a bad evening, as things go.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 11 April 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

There has to mileage in a Scottish answer to 'The Naked Chef' called 'Ally Cooks!'.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 11 April 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

god i forgot im off to see the baby tonight and i nearly forgot about the kids coming tommorrow - bang goes the beers and FA cup weekend - unless my nephews wanna see "relaxed uncle James"

james (james), Friday, 11 April 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

"I will supply pudding." ITAE?

I won't have a perfect day today as last night's drinking after giving blood has made me feel ropier than I should do. There are moments when a hangover can feel comforting, but my instinct is that I'm not about to experience them.

I do, however, have some bacon in the fridge that really needs eating...

Mark C (Mark C), Saturday, 12 April 2003 07:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Oops, didn't answer thread question:

It's tricky, as I would ideally want to leave alcohol out of the equation, and prove I can have a good time without it. As that's frankly a fool's notion, I shall go for the traditional evening in, candles, wine, movie, sofa, delicious yet not-too-filling food, with my better half - though as befits a long distance relationship, let's make it the day we meet up again after a time apart (though miraculously neither of us is tired or irritated).

Mark C (Mark C), Saturday, 12 April 2003 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Last night (earlier tonight, whatever), the girlfriend and I saw a Tulane baseball game and had the requisite burgers/peanuts/beer. Saturday night, I'm going to some friends' apartment to make dinner for them and force them to help me use up the cinnamon brownies, drink Bonny Doon framboise and cheap champagne, and watch Angel, since it was delayed earlier this week by an LSU baseball game (maybe we'll watch movies after, too; I'll suggest so).

All in all, that makes for a weekend of pretty good evenings.

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 12 April 2003 08:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Friday night: At home watching episodes of Art Crimes And Mysteries that the TiVo snagged. Drinking Namibian beer and eating Greek spinach/feta turnover things

Saturday: Meeting friends for Islamic Chinese food somewhere up in Alhambra and then going to the Egyptian Theater to catch Kiss Me Deadly (the Egyptian has been having a noir festival all week)

Sunday: Don't know yet other than I want to get the hell out of Long Beach while the car races are going on.

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Saturday, 12 April 2003 08:16 (twenty-two years ago)

My perfect night was just how I spent this one (and most others). A night of escapist tv highlighted by back to back Simpsons episodes and a Law & Order franchise. Then a trip to the neighborhood bar where everyone knows my name for too many cheap ass beers and a violent game or two of Uno. Then to bed, perchance to dream, before a drinking brunch beckons and the whole cycle starts over again.

Did I mention the long conversation as to whether Paul's Boutique deserved a place in the ultimate modern musical canon? Did I tell you that I would walk out in front of a freight train in the name of this album?

That Girl (thatgirl), Saturday, 12 April 2003 08:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Uno and Paul's Boutique are definitely key ingredients in a Perfect Evening.

Oh yeah, next weekend: Friday is a party at same friends' as tomorrow's dinner - drinking and watching Kindred: The Embraced among gaming geeks. Presumably I'll cook, but I don't know what. Sunday is me making Easter dinner for those friends + girlfriend - it was originally going to be leg of lamb and Greek beer since two of us love lamb, one is lamb-neutral, and one hasn't had it; then we realized we were all broke, so it's now "the lamb shank I had in the freezer that serves two" and a roast chicken and previously purchased wine.

That's a pretty good weekend, too, by gosh.

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 12 April 2003 08:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I think a couple of drinks on a nice evening is good. I'm just not allowed to do more than that (under penalty of death! Honest).

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Saturday, 12 April 2003 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

A leisurely dinner with a significant other, at a restaurant with outdoor seating. The dinner should include several glasses of a nice wine or other appropriate beverage, and a great dessert. The weather must be conducive to sitting outside, and the outdoor seating should not be near heavy traffic (vehicular or pedestrian) or other distractions.
