Ok, so I've derailed lots of threads talking about Trading Spaces, but as far as I can tell, there are no threads ENTIRELY devoted to the show. So, post away...

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 11 April 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

This is who I met during my lunch hour:

Woo HOO!!!

It was some dumb Southern Women's Convention. I went to see him do a Q&A on a big flashy stage and then do an autograph signing afterwards. And I got my pic with him.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 11 April 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Genevieve is sooooo hot.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 11 April 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

GOD I HATE THIS SHOW JUST BECAUSE MY MOM IS OBSESSED WITH IT AND THE STUPID REMINDERS FOR THE SHOW THAT SHE SET POP UP ON THE TV EVERY TWO HOURS OR SO FUCK FUCK FUCK
(sorry)

oops (Oops), Friday, 11 April 2003 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

But oops, Genevieve is soo hot. She's all, like, awesome and stuff.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 11 April 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Oops, Why do you hate your mom so much?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 11 April 2003 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, your mom is sooo hot. She's all, like, awesome and stuff.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Friday, 11 April 2003 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Because she gave birth to me, Sarah. Duh.

oops (Oops), Friday, 11 April 2003 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

ty pennington will have my children.

anthony easton (anthony), Saturday, 12 April 2003 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Their designers (with a few heinous exceptions) are much better than the ones on Changing Rooms, because at least they don't insist on painting every room a hideous shade of lilac.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Saturday, 12 April 2003 02:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Horrible ripoff of "Changing Rooms". At least on "Changing Rooms" every one of the designers on the program was a designer before getting on the program. For example, Laurence did designs for large country estates, Linda was an everyday individual's designer (Andy did some work for her pre-"Changing Rooms"!), and Anna was a designer whose speciality was children's rooms.

Wasn't it said that the only person on "Trading Spaces" who himself/herself a designer who actually was a designer before getting on the program was that curly-haired redhead with the big Southern drawl? I believe that's what I heard. Anyway, only one of them was ever a true designer before getting on the program. Having said that, though, I do like what Vern does. He's the only one I could say that about on that show, though. On "Changing Rooms", I've seen everyone but Oliver Heath do rooms I would actually like. (Oliver is just too crazy for me.)

And lilac can be a good color for a room if it fits into the color scheme. Which reminds me -- I need to find a lilac-colored outfit for Easter/general springtime/simmertime (yes, I know, but I do feel like I'm simmering on the inside througout that season) wearing.

Of course, all the above is my opinion alone. Your mileage may vary.

Dee the Lurker (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 12 April 2003 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

And lilac can be a good color for a room if it fits into the color scheme.

But it never does! I've seen nearly every episode of Changing Rooms, and I can only recall a handful that did not leave me with a mixture of disgust and horror. Pastels! Dear god, no more pastels! Everything looks chintzy and cheap or horribly trendy.
Whereas on Trading Spaces, I'm nearly always pleased by rooms by Genevieve, Laurie, and Vern. Very classic and attractive rooms.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Saturday, 12 April 2003 05:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sooooo with Horace on the Geneveive hotness issue. You know what it is? It's not the breasts, it's not the face, it's both of those things combined with that little tummy. Not too flat, not too fat. Best tummy EVER.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Saturday, 12 April 2003 05:43 (twenty-two years ago)

BTW -- that's a terrible picture of her.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Saturday, 12 April 2003 05:44 (twenty-two years ago)

That's better. Look at her. So focused. So intent. So... aw, to hell with it. Bring that soft white expanse of neck over here, girl!

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Saturday, 12 April 2003 05:47 (twenty-two years ago)

On the "what Trading Spaces personality are you" quiz, I am Genevieve. I think my friend found her number in the phone book.

A little birdie told me that Amy Wynn is living in Jersey City at the moment.

Let's not talk about the Doug dream.

rosemary (rosemary), Saturday, 12 April 2003 06:16 (twenty-two years ago)

ty
we do need to talk about ty.

anthony easton (anthony), Saturday, 12 April 2003 06:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Genevieve is only two years older than I am!!! Damn, anyone want to give me $1000 to decorate? I'll walk around barefoot and everything.

rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

dee, they are all REAL designers. whatever that means. And it's a legit version fo trading rooms.
Y'know what I like best about Genevieve? EVERYTHING!
Her and Spongebob (and maybe Conan, but I haven't been staying up late to watch TV lately anyway) are about all I'm going to miss when I lost TV in 15 days.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 22:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I despise While you were Out. The stupid quizes, the over-the-top designs. Or at least I've hated what episodes I have seen. But I know it's silly to have such strong feelings about a home improvement tv show.

More talk about Trading Spaces! Woo hoo!

By the way, I ordered a Best of dvd last week which should be arriving soon. (wait... should I have not mentioned that? oh well).

And am I crazy for liking Hildi? I was looking at the Trading Spaces book at Barnes & Noble (notice the restraint as I did not buy that too) and found out she has a mega rich husband and a few different houses, including a couple of places in France.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

THe show is growing on me. The wife loves it. We want Vern to come and re-do our house. THe man is a genius. That Frank fella is a piece of work, his designs suck. I agree with Horace, Geneiveve is hot, I want to decorate her.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

eight months pass...
Yeah for Amy! She needs move camera loving cause Ty is training to hard for his upcoming ego battle with Bono.
Vern rocks, he's like the grand prize they drag out everyonce in a while to make up for Mrs Crazy Wall Hildi.
