A friend at school said my Mum looked like Dot Cotton. I was most offended.

My girlfriend reckons my Dad looks like the TV repair man in "Pleasantville". I have to concede that there is a resemblance...

In fact, I had this exact conversation with my mother some years ago:

Me: "Mom, I saw Dad today, you know who he looks like?
Mom: "Stalin!"
Me: "No no, the other one. Stalin had hair. Lenin."
Mom: "He's the one who was mostly bald, but had the beard?"
Me: "YES! That's exactly who Dad looks like."
Mom: "He really does. He's lost a lot of hair."
Me: "Mom, not everyone who loses their hair looks like Lenin. This is a unique thing. This is my father's thing now, looking like Lenin."
Mom: "Except his hair's all white."
Me: "And yet somehow he doesn't look any less like Lenin."
Mom: "Well, that's your father, dear."

people think my mum looks like her twin sister, and she does. It's funny because often my auntie will be at the shops when she's visiting here and one of my mum's friends will come and say "hello joan how are you!" or whatever and she obviously throws a fit and says "for fuck sake, that's my sister, how can you mix me up, you're so fucking igorant".

My brother's hobby is rally driving. He does pretty well at it. Unfortunately my dad is the spitting image of ex-Rally World Champion Juha Kankunnen (sp?). For a laugh once we dressed him in a Subaru world rally jacket at one of these events and watched loads of people ask him for autographs.

My father never eats fast food, only health food (so no Colonel Sanders love for him), and he's a rabid ultraconservative, so I don't think he's a Lenin fan either.

I just stumbled across a book in Google Books, a history of the college my dad attended and later taught at. I checked to see if he was mentioned in it and found a photo of my parents (!) in an undergrad production of Guys and Dolls:
