Does anyone know how to find a dog fight or unlciensed boxing match in London? Ta...

Peter Parker (Peter Parker), Monday, 14 April 2003 11:55 (twenty-two years ago)

No, I believe that dog fights are illegal thanks to the cruelty factor. First rule of fight club: never talk about fight club. Can't help you out sorry. Perhaps you should go put your fist through a wall or something and curb your violent tendencies?

Wouldn't you like to know (Amused), Monday, 14 April 2003 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

What a complete idiot you are. *Any chance of deleting this stupid thread?*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 April 2003 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Pah! I'm a journo. Just asking.....

Peter Parker (Peter Parker), Monday, 14 April 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Did you not think that this was a teeny weeny bit of an inflammatory way to express your interest? And goodness knows enough ILXers are trés combustible. Jesus wept.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 14 April 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Your a 'journo' so what? Even if ILXers were into that (which i am sure they're not!), do you think they'd post the info you request, because you were 'just asking'? Like I said, 'stupid'!!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 April 2003 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

If anyone knows they can just drop Spidey a line at his email (if he has bothered making it real)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 14 April 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

What a sick fuck. My sister volunteers at a shelter that rescues many of these animals, and her pit bull is a rescued fighter - completely rehabilitated and a real sweetheart. You can see these dogs and learn about dog fighting here .

Kerry (dymaxia), Monday, 14 April 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

see Amores Perros

A Nairn (moretap), Monday, 14 April 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Parker says he's a journo: more info about this reaching the general public is a good thing, surely?!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 14 April 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this stuff is old news: there was a long article about unlicensed boxing in the IoS mag yesterday.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Monday, 14 April 2003 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

If he is a journo, he should ask an anti-cruelty organization. No one on the internet will volunteer that information. However, I believe that there are meeting places online. I'm sure all he has to do is do a search on "dogfighting" and he'll find it. It makes no sense to come to a random board and expect that people will know about it.

Kerry (dymaxia), Monday, 14 April 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Besides, I went to journalism school, and this method of info gathering is highly unprofessional and what's more, it's about the last method you'd use to get info about a subject.

If he really is a journo, he should check out some of these "breeders" online who advertise "big heads" and "powerful jaws". My sister says that there are dogfighting advocates online, but I'm not sure where they hang out.

Kerry (dymaxia), Monday, 14 April 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

So it's probably a regular trolling. After all, there hasn't been nearly enough screaming delusional flaming lately. Meh.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 14 April 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

wasn't someone from the D@ily R3cord using the name Peter Parker to stalk someone here before.

Ed (dali), Monday, 14 April 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not quite sure which "journalism school" Kerry went to, but to suggest info gathering on the net could possibly be "highly unprofessional" is absolutely riddick. Simply mentioning dog fighting is not the same as condoning it (which of course, I don't, as I'm not a "sick fuck" as Kerry politely suggests). I'm not quite sure how you guys think journalism works, but sometimes you have to write about "bad things" that may or may not offend people's sensibilities. But then again, maybe you'd rather just read the NME. Sorry for not posting a more transparent question, but geez.

Peter Parker (Peter Parker), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

But what on earth suggested to you that people on here would know anything about this subject, or care enough to let you know? Do a google already. Blimey.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

"Journalists" in being lazy sods who expect other people to do their research for them shockah!

kate, Tuesday, 15 April 2003 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Um, hello? I thought this was called "I Love EVERYTHING" by which it means, like, uh, everything. It's quite common to post questions on the net for research... not sure why that's "lazy", that's just how you do research. As it happens, I'm writing something about the RSPCA, but it's nice to know yer all so bloody self-righteous you automatically thought I was biting cute little puppie's heads off. (Perish the thought).

Yours,
Lazy Sod

Peter Parker (Peter Parker), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 09:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, it's quite common to post questions in FORUMS RELEVANT TO THE TOPIC YOU ARE RESEARCHING. If you are even researching a real article, which, due to your attitude and the tone of your question, very few of us actually believe that you are.

This is an internet community. This is not free research. Now fuck off.

kate, Tuesday, 15 April 2003 09:38 (twenty-two years ago)

You said specifically that you wanted to find some dog fighting and unlicensed boxing. How does the boxing fit in with the RSPCA? It looks like you're fishing for outraged responses, or if you assumed that we're all dumb psychopaths, directions to the next East End bloodbath, possibly taking place in an edgy style lab. Like, whatever. We only love everything from the comfort of our office chairs, dear.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 09:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Peace.

I'm honestly writing an article about the RSPCA, namely the decline in membership of the RSPCA since the 1980s (they've lost 100,000+ members in the past decade), for a London local rag. I'd heard there was dogfights in docklands. Obviously that's not the sort of thing anyone would own up to seeing, but you don't get anywhere being a writer without asking stupid questions. Of which this was one a very stupid one, I admit.

I'm ALSO writing a piece about unlicensed boxing. There's a guy named Alex Mortlock, a born-again-Christian, who gets other born agains doing unlicensed boxing together, under the name "Godfellas."

Sorry for offending anyone's sensiblities by being a bit flip. I wasn't trying to instigate some kind of Nathan-Barley-style meanness, I was just asking (I didn't tell anyone to fuck off, either -- that was a bit mean). But anyway. Sorry again.

Peter Parker (Peter Parker), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the point someone made abt encouraging those in the know to email you — rather than posting — was good. As it happens I know zip abt either, but even if I did I'd be a bit leery about saying so out loud (it wd encourage the attentions of a. the law and b. ILE animal lovers, who are fierce scary when aroused).

I did once see Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks fight in Bethnal Green (haha the main villain wz "The Red Admiral" — his shtick wz that he wz an EVIL COMMUNIST, which is actually not that easy to put across coherently in the wrestling ring...)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 09:59 (twenty-two years ago)

All property is theft, therefore I will break this chair across your head whilst bellowing in a manly fashion?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

The Red Admiral's schtick was a wasted opportunity if it didn't involve a cossack dance in the ring at some point.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

the first rule of obedience school is 'sit when they say so, you might get a treat, yo'. (dogs tend to substitute 'arf' for 'yo', but whatever)

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 11:23 (twenty-two years ago)
