It's quite funny: once I could not pass a record shop by without trying to find a collectable seven inch or No New York. But I found the latter and a new obsession: COOKING. So do you love/hate cooking? Which cuisine sites do you visit (if any) and do you watch those detestable programs which don't teach you ANYTHING. I am especially interested in knowing what chiles are. heh. No, seriously, ...

do you cook?

I like to cook, although sadly I am quite limited. I'm also on a diet at the moment which restricts the foods that i really love. :-( I occasionally watch cookery progs on UK food, that cockney bald chef always makes me laugh!

I'm a brilliant cook. Most of the time. Let us not discuss that New Year's party a few years ago.

I hardly ever use food websites, they just don't seem to be that good, BBC isn't bad for food and UkFood have their website, but I'd still rather get my hands on a cookery book for some reason. I do watch the uk food channel though, it's a buit hit and miss but it has some real gems. The first Giorgio Locatelli programme is being repeated at the moment and it's cool, also Rick Stein is on a lot.

I love cooking but it makes my tummy big.

I adore cooking, but I hardly ever use food websites either, sometimes i google up a recipe.

TV/Cookbook wise I like Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, Nigel Slater, Rick Stein and Clarissa Dickinson-Wright. If you can get hold of the first Antonio Carluccio series/book from the early 90s that is brilliant also the river cafe cookbook easy extracts in the gaurdian these last couple of weeks have been great. (small chocolate nemesis cake, easy truffle cake, pistachio cake mmmmm)

Nigel Slater is a really good cookery book writer and indeed his Observer stuff is really the only reason I buy the paper any more, but he should steer clear of tv work, he's just not very good at it, which is a shame really.

I like Nigel Slater's recipes, but recently read Appetite right through, like a proper book and realised just how often he repeats himself. I guess it doesn't matter because you're only meant to dip into cookery books, but somehow I still felt cheated.

The only time I've ever used an internet recipe was for Ally C's birthday disaster chocolate cake. It came out of the oven blackened, but was still runny on the inside. He was very gallant about it and ate a few mouthfuls (smothered in squirty cream).
