What's coming out this summer that'll "reel" in the crowds? (sorry, couldn't help it.)

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

X-Men 2 X-Men 2 X-Men 2 X-Men 2

The Matrix movies, too, I guess...

(deep breath)

X-Men 2 X Men 2 X Men 2...

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

KING KONG!

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I am starting to refer to it as ILX-Men 2 because the more I think about it the more they all start to resemble ilxors. Hugh Jackman is the Pinefox.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been told I resemble Alan Cumming.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

THE HULK

TERMINATOR 3

KILL BILL

actionpacktblockbuster overload basically

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

No, you resemble Alan cumming.
Sorry.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

But otherwise I bear no resemblance to Alan, when he is attending to more mundane activities.

Damn, Nick A got there first.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

The Hulk will be the best high-concept film ever. I love Eric Bana-Chopper is great!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought Kill Bill was coming out this fall?

Of course, I cannot go any further into this thread without mentioning Pirates of the Carribean!. Elf pirate sex at long last.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

So...anyone looking forward to "Rambo Fights The Taliban"??

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

"Jerry Bruckheimer's 'Gulf War II: Revenge of the Shrub'"

robster (robster), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought Kill Bill was coming out this fall?

Chris Barrus sez either June or July, I seem to recall, but allegedly that's when the novel/screenplay/whatever it is surfaces first.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope Gaspar Noe's got another high-kicking, rubber-burning funfest in store for us.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

The Matrix is still a birthday gift to ME

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

X-Men 2 X-Men 2 X-Men 2 X-Men 2
The Matrix movies, too, I guess...

(deep breath)

X-Men 2 X Men 2 X Men 2...

Boy, have you got your priorities wrong.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

But Andrew, seeing Wolverine on-screen is the fulfilment of a boyhood dream! F Keanu and his trenchcoat!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, has there not ever been a good pirate movie made in colour?
Polanski's Pirates with my man Walter Matthau was fairly not-good, and uh, the other ones I can think are too terrible to mention.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Cutthroat Island rep!

slutsky away, Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

what about that one with Kristy McNichol?

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

this is my point.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Yellowbeard was half-assed.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

F Keanu and his trenchcoat!

WHERE DO I SIGN UP?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I dread to say it, but Goonies was probably the best piratic movie of the last 40 years.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

the new Matrix films really do look like they are going to blow everything else out of the water...at least until Return of The King comes out - can't fuckin wait

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

eight year old me had suuuuuuch high hopes for Yellowbeard when it came out. Pirates, Morty Feldman - how could it miss? Very disappointed.

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

what about that one with Kristy McNichol?

I saw this movie on my birthday one year. I think that was the start of where I went wrong in life.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Lilya 4-Ever!!!

actually, the world's greatest film-maker's next film is out in a few weeks here, but the weather is so good that it feels like summer.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Hulk!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm worried about this Hulk movie.

slutsky slutsky, Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:44 (twenty-two years ago)

the uh, cgi shots of the hulk I've seen haven't been too impressive.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

well its Ang Lee so hopefully the cinematography and characterisation will make up for shoddy graphics

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, does anyone know where I can find a list of summer movies to anticipate?

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 15:50 (twenty-two years ago)

that was the purpose of this thread!

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

isnt Freddy vs Jason coming out?

kephm, Tuesday, 15 April 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, but I don't know when exactly.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

is there an Alien vs Predator movie in production as rumoured? and what about Aeon Flux?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

KING KONG! get it together people

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

The Muppets take Iraq

SplendidMullet (iamamonkey), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

(sorry, didn't mean my last post to be sarcastic!)

hasn't alien vs predator been in production for like 20 years?

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

King Kong is years away tho isnt it? i'm not optimistic about it, i hated Godzilla, but at least its Peter Jackson directing, apparently

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

How about that new movie from the Waitinf for Guffman/Best in Show crowd? The one about folk music? I think it's just coming out actually.

This is a pretty good place to find out about upcoming movies:

http://movies.yahoo.com/upcoming/

The dude used to do the site himself but then started working for Yahoo. Lots of fun gossip.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

GHOST RIDER!! yay!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

KING KONG is years away, but will be truly truly awesome no diggity no doubt

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Lilya 4-Ever!!!

I saw this mooooonths ago. I'm cool.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw Lilya 4-Ever at the London Film Festival. I didn't much like it.

It's the Hulk for me - one of my all-time favourite superheroes, and Ang Lee!!! I quite liked the first X-Men (though some of the super-action was pretty lame, especially the climax), but I'm not sure if I'll go to #2. I expect a good few of my friends will go, so I might join them. I'm not much for blockbusters, personally.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

The folk music one you refer to is A Mighty Wind, and I'm probably going to catch it this weekend.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

This is summer of the sequels -- Tomb Raider 2 and Legally Blonde 2, too.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

ten years pass...

OK what should I see? Hot. Stuck in the city. Time to kill. Looking to see a flick a week this summer. Open to anything, and I want to mix it up. Ideas?

Doesn't have to be brand new, but try to keep it to stuff that's in theatres.
