best thread ever.

hstencil, Wednesday, 16 April 2003 02:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Holy shit, between that and Journey, I could die happy now.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

This self-sufficiency thing really is amazing. We sow the seed, right. Nature grows the seed, and then, we eat the seed. And then, after that, we sow the seed, nature grows the seed, and then, we eat the seed. And then, after that again, we sow the seed, nature grows the seed....

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

ESOJ = pure genius. I am envious beyond measure. Well done. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 02:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Clearly the winner is booze, I mean look at that picture.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 02:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Young Ones Vs Ab Fab is hard enough sometimes.

Booze, cause Neil is a fucking hippie.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 03:00 (twenty-two years ago)

JBR: hahahahah! :)

I'll go for doobie, cause if I ever drink and end up looking like that old whore, I'd go to detox faster than you can say "hand me that IV drip and stoli bottle".

And people already call me a hippy anyway.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 03:04 (twenty-two years ago)

"darrrrr-ling!"

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 03:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh god. Now I really do wanna go to detox.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 03:18 (twenty-two years ago)

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 03:56 (twenty-two years ago)

JBR, clearly, favors some kind of third option

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 03:59 (twenty-two years ago)

stolis all round, darrling!

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 04:25 (twenty-two years ago)

buds i prefer because i'm not the hottest drinker......recently i was sitting in an elementary b-ball court sipping on some cider and i just started barfing on my rad new moschino sport coat, i rolled over into a spot i had previously peed in, my friends refused to drive me home, so they came back with a sleeping bag, rolled me into it, rolled me out on Robin's lawn, hosed me down with some freeeezing ass water, dragged me into the basement, rolled me onto a bunch of garbage bags, and left me there to rot overnight........imma dead Robin deader than hash browns, strength

Ramosi, Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:34 (twenty-two years ago)

i have had beers and i gotta say booze ownz

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I forgot to mention they used the sleeping bag to protect their car seats.......which puzzles me because they ended up putting me in the trunk.......how are you, Jim? it has been an eternity

Ramosi, Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:37 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm excellent sir Ramosi. and i hope you're keeping very well yourself.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:38 (twenty-two years ago)

It's like asking which of your children you love more. I love them both, just differently.

J-rock (Julien Sandiford), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:38 (twenty-two years ago)

ohhhhhhh shit my main pimpjuice brother Tracer, right? you Paul Barman doppelganger, i could kiss u!

Ramosi, Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a much better drinker than stoner. Or at least, I am now. The trouble with me and weed is, I've classed myself right out of my own price range. I can't stand weed that's anything less than kind nowadays -- I've just smoked too much weak-ass, forgetful, munchy, paraniod Mexican schwag to ever want to go back to it. Wasted whole years on that shit. I like being high, but I like being high on good weed. And good weed is too expensive.

Booze, I say. At least until I grow up and make some money.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I hafta go wit da Cri$tal and Dom, but that's not B00ZE per se.

Do it wit' any TRUE YAK or Belvedere of course.

I ain't smokin' shit unless... it is mad glazed like Krispy Kreme or some kinda $en$imilla at least.

DAMN! This is some hard shit to decide.

Settle up like King $olomon- B00ZE all nite, BLUNT all day.

Masaccio, the Evil Fucking Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:49 (twenty-two years ago)

B00ZE all nite, BLUNT all day

Get a job.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:51 (twenty-two years ago)

but WHY

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not Tracer, I'm Trayce :)

I think he was worried people would confuse us when I arrived. Huzzah! I confuse people! :D

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i used to smoke a lot of pot. now it bores me.

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:53 (twenty-two years ago)

same here

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Get a job?
I'M $LANGIN' MAD L00T!!!

Masaccio, the Evil Fucking Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah ultimately I'm w/ esoj and di. I just can't smoke pot like I used to. I get too lethargic / paranoid. Which I already am to begin with. I still like a puff every now and then but pretty infrequently.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

"H.I., you're young and you got your health. What do you want with a job?"

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 06:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Pot boring?! HEATHENZ!

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 06:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Booze. And the Boos. God, I hate pot!

kate, Wednesday, 16 April 2003 07:50 (twenty-two years ago)

If I simply had to take a side, it would probably be on the side of the ganj. Maybe I'm a total weirdo with a totally wack body chemistry (this is true), or maybe it's just 'cause I live in Kentucky, one of the sources of some of the finest of that particular stuff on Earth, but when I partake it doesn't make me tired or paranoid...well, it doesn't make me any more fnord paranoid than I always am.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 10:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't been drunk in nearly 25 years (I shall change this soon - I'm sick of saying it), because I didn't much like the feeling. I've been stoned plenty of times, but I wouldn't like to do that too often either - it does make me very dozy.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

alcohol, every time.

hash is nice every now and again but alcohol fuels adventures, hash just fuels er.....adventure games.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Just trying to imagine Kate getting even more paranoid from pot, but its blowing my mind.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I never knew!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/abfab/guide/y.shtml

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 14:34 (twenty-two years ago)

You didn't, Mr. N? I'm surprised!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Ganja without a doubt (though if socializing, prefer a beer or two in me)
I have weird tolerances. I rarely drink, yet I can pound a few quickly and still be OK. Then, the floodgates open up and I'll get too drunk almost immediately--there's hardly any in between. Plus, my hangover comes while I'm drinking, not the next day, so anything more than a few beers just ain't worth it.
With weed, I never act (as) obnoxious. No headaches, no ralphing, no reckless driving, no liver damage, no sex w/Bavarian transexuals. My auditory senses are improved (it 'tis a proven fact) and drumming becomes more fun and I'm able to map out the beats better, ie there's a visual aspect to music. Concentration is actually improved, at the expense of multi-tasking. This is great for drumming, no other thoughts intrude.
For all thee pot haters, drunk people are more annoying and look a lot more stupid to a sober person than a stoned person does. And when's the last time a stoned person came up to you at a bar/pub looking for a fight?

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Theory: the world would be a better place if marijuana was the predominant intoxicant rather than alcohol.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I could easily live without both. Couldn't live without tea and cakes though.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

ie the sad truth is alcohol is too commonplace to have a solid stereotype, in so far as one can be described that way.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 18 April 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm thinking the dichotomy is 'people when they're drunk' vs. 'people when they're stoned'. No stereotypes need to be invoked.

Also, weed is pretty commonplace, but we are only usu aware of the most 'hardcore' stoners who make it obv that they smoke. It's illegal and looked down upon, so many of us who smoke can not be identified and held up as examples who don't fit the stoner stereotype.

oops (Oops), Friday, 18 April 2003 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Ohhh yeah, I know why

luna (luna.c), Friday, 18 April 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Whereas everybody and their mom will freely admit to drinking so you have all these different types of people who you know for sure drink.

oops (Oops), Friday, 18 April 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I actually like the stoner stereotype, cuz I like to see the looks on people's faces when it's COMPLETELY DEMOLISHED ON A DAILY BASIS.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 18 April 2003 15:52 (twenty-two years ago)

amen bruthah

luna (luna.c), Friday, 18 April 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't smoked pot, Sean. I've never smoked ciggarettes either. I don't even know if I spelled ciggarettes right. I think there's only one G.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 18 April 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm allergic to cigarettes, myself, so I can't hang out too much where people are smoking. Sarah, let's have a margarita and kittens party. No smokes, no doob!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 18 April 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Where do you live?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 18 April 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Err, uh, yeah, that's probably a big problem. Unless you're in Toronto too.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 18 April 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm in North America too!

I was in Toronto once for a weekend but it was with my mom and sister and they're both really slow movers so we didn't get anywhere too exciting. Plus, my mom was there for a conference. But anywho, maybe sometime I'll trip up there again and we can have said party. I live in Virginia.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 18 April 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Re: destroying the stoner stereotype:Everyone heard about that university president busted for weed, right?

oops (Oops), Friday, 18 April 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

BOOOOOOOZE!

sorry but taking a big old bong hit or puffing on the ridiculously small end of a joint doesn't make anyone look hot. and then you fall asleep.

stephanie tuerk (stephanie), Friday, 18 April 2003 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

whereas chugging cans of PBR, puking on yourself, and passing out on the subway is HOTTTT!
(If I saw a picture of some moderately attractive chick hitting a bong they automatically become HOTTTT!)(smoking sativa does not make one pass out...there is no alhohol equivalent to sativa)

oops (Oops), Friday, 18 April 2003 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

(I think she means more like the "beer-goggles" thing oops)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 18 April 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

alhohol=Freudian slip?

oops (Oops), Friday, 18 April 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahhh, now I see...
carry on

oops (Oops), Friday, 18 April 2003 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Everyone heard about that university president busted for weed, right?

No! Dish! (Supposedly my university's president was busted for speeding and using a radar detector. Ho hum.)

And Sean C., margaritas and kittens sounds like a FABULOUS party. Now if only I were in Toronto.

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 18 April 2003 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Hello, Hello. My names Terry and I'm a law abider
There's nothing I like more than getting fired up on beer

Eh hello. My names Tim and I'm a criminal,
In the eyes of society I need to be in jail
For the choice of herbs I inhale.

J (Jay), Friday, 18 April 2003 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Here's a link j.lu.
No mention of how his smoking adversely affected his career, I guess because IT DIDN'T. What harm did their 'dealings' do anybody?

oops (Oops), Friday, 18 April 2003 19:32 (twenty-two years ago)

(Supposedly my university's president was busted for speeding and using a radar detector. Ho hum.)

The rumor around UCLA when I was there was that the then-chancellor once crashed a car into a tree in the company of 1) various empty bottles of wine and/or whisky and 2) a cheerleader in a state of deshabille, if I have that spelled right. As the professors themselves were the ones spreading the rumor, this is something that might have had a bit of veracity behind it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 18 April 2003 20:52 (twenty-two years ago)

NJ is halfway between VA and Toronto right? We can have a margarita and kitten party here!

rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 18 April 2003 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's face it - vices are cool and enticing. In the right
hands a bong or a hard liquor bottle can be a very sexy
accessory. Beer cans are lame though.
I think it all boils down to the smell. Alcohol smells nasty,
especially old layers of alcohol and sweat and fags - it's a
dirty, unwholesome thing.
Weed, OTOH, smells damn good. It smells like nature.
it's a trees/rocks/being-8-again-playing-hide-and-go-seek
kind of thing that always brings a smile to my face.
Agreed that it's lame to generalize drinkers, since they're
such a broad category. That's like lambasting "internet dorks."
Still, growing up in this town, the smell of alcohol reminds me
of bad-smelling, poorly dressed people who never graduated from
high school. And fishermen - oh, how I hate fishermen.
But it's also true that there are many stupid, boring stoners.
NEVER get high with a skateboarder. Their idea of a fun
trip is to eat pizza and play video games - skating games.
For a change, they'll watch a video - a skating video. Or
a piece of shit Wayne's World movie.
My favorite people to get high with are those who are willing
to talk endlessly about bullshit while doing a wide variety of
things - walking around in the sun is good, so is swimming
or dancing.
Unfortunately, many otherwise intelligent people have been
successfully indoctrinated into thinking that pot = heroin =
the ultimate evil. So my smartest, funniest friends I will
never be able to enjoy a toke with.

My problem with alcohol is 3 fold
1. I'm too young to buy it and I hate asking people to
buy it for me - it makes me feel like that boring loser
in _American Grafitti_.
2. I have alcoholism in the family so I'm nervous about
this shit anyway.
3. It's just a good time - there's nothing transcendant about
getting drunk. You're just larfing it up - weed makes you
feel like you been out of the world and back, it makes you
feel like you've accomplished/understand something new about
yourself. Afterwards you realize that's bullshit and you WERE
just larfing it up, but at the time it's something else
entirely.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 26 November 2003 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm also someone who's never tried out weed, or indeed any illegal substances.

I also rarely drink, and the last time I picked up a cigarette was three years ago (the worst I got there, btw, was a pack a week). My drug of choice is caffeine. I have to have the equivalent of four cups of coffee per day in order to operate.

So, if you'll excuse me, I'll forego this selection and head straight for the pot of coffee that's just finished brewing....
