Are you a stats whore?

I've recently become obsessed with checking the statistics page to see how many messages I've posted here. I got inordinately excited when I realized I was on the verge of passing Tom and catching up to Nicole and Kate.

Is anyone else doing this, or am I as pathetic as I feel?

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You are as pathetic as you feel. But there might be others equally pathetic.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I keep forgetting it's there, is the only reason that I don't check it every day.

Hooray, I'm number 3! Best number to be!

masonic boom, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Tis better to be silent and thought a fool..." yadda yadda yadda....

JM, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think I checked a week or so ago out of curiosity, and then I did so now to see how much Dan was catching up to me!

I feel slightly guilty and embarassed about being up so high, I might as well wear a placard that reads "No, I really don't have anything better to do".

Nicole, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If you're bored at work, after all. Which now that summer is here *really* describes me.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't even have work for an excuse... alls I have is unemployment and illness. Things will change when I get back into the workforce! Honestly they will... (except, well, knowing the British workforce, well, no, they probably won't.)

masonic boom, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I look most days. I think I'm pretty much settled at number eight.

Robin Carmody, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm #1! I'm #1! I'm #1! I'm #1! I'm so wicked excited.

Ally, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm sneaking up on you, Ally. It's really not going to be hard to beat Mark, if I even make half an effort at posting more... heh heh heh.

masonic boom, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was number 13, but with this post, I become joint number 12...almost exactly the same position I had on ILM, but I'm think I'm a bit down on that list now...haven't really been listening to much music lately!

james e l, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm in 4th place, behind Kate, Mark S and of course Ally. Ally = Queen of the board.

DG, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ILE = a bag of Gummi Worms at 4 in the morning while pulling an all- nighter. That is, frivolous & delicious, though it can make you sick if you don't watch yourself.

ILM = a nice home-cooked meal from Mom. That is, substantial & necessary every so often, to counter-act the numerous bags of Worms you scarfed down during the semester. Plus, you like Mom. And, even then, with Mom, you'll order some Chinese take-out, because it's convenient. (Also, you get to do laundry for free.)

Not that you New York cats would know about that, of course.

Personally, I'm hoping to reach 100 before Ms. Kearney hits 500. Doubtful that'll happen, since my posts are longer than they are frequent.

David Raposa, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am so wicked above all of you, ain't no one gon' hold me down, hey. Hello!

The key to being the queen of things is to talk a lot and go on and on and on. Hence, I can beat you all at this game.

Ally, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Please, like we didn't know that you were way out front. C'mon.

I feel compelled to point out that as of this moment I'm within three posts of Nicole. DG, you're next!

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I too am a prossie for the stats. I'm currently oscillating between 9th and 11th, but there's a big gap before I reach Mr Carmody in 8th.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Come and get me, Perry boy, you try anything and I'll just rustle up some photos of anyone involved with the Moulin Rouge 'Lady Marmalade' - you'll stop dead in your tracks and start bitchin'. You know it.

DG, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am not even on the list. I am going to cry... I do check my email stats way too often though, and when I fall under my average number of messages per day, I drink myself into a stupor.

bnw, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am not a stats whore, but I have just checked the stats and am appalled that Fred is 4 ahead of me, since he has a real job and I should rightly be far ahead of him. So I will promptly reply to some threads to improve matters.

Sub-question: web site stats. Mine change very slowly so I'm not too excited by them, but I do like checking them regularly to see if I recognize people from their hostnames, or if I've gotten a new referral.

Josh, Tuesday, 26 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

damn! i'm down in 17th place, thats means i'm only one place above relegation, i thought i was close to being top 10. pah!

yeah josh i agree, new referral stats rule

gareth, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am sneaking up on Mark. I really am making an effort to be less talkative and more postative. Hence, the stupid one-liners on the masturbation and sodomy threads. I mean, I've got neither a job nor a life, I should be ahead of ALL of you! Except, erm, Ally, who is, like, a force of nature or something.

masonic boom, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

YES!!!!! SUCCESS!!! I am number two!!!!

But just you watch, when I have to go this afternoon and sort out my flat, Mark will sneak back up on me. Humph. It's really paranoid-making, being number two. (who is number one?)

masonic boom, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Post 39.

AP, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Post 40.

AP, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Post... wait, I'm just gonna type out COCKFARMER one letter per post. Cool!!

AP, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hey!!! That's cheating!!! You do have to actually ramble nonsensically in order to qualify as a post. It doesn't matter if it's on topic, in fact, it doesn't have to make sense, but I object to this blatant attempt to fool the computers! You can't fool me! Earn that placement!

masonic boom, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Gimme a "C"!

AP, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Don't even think about it!!!

masonic boom, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Foiled!!

AP, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And you would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky, meddling kids!

masonic boom, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am a Force of Second Nature ha ha (tho not for long). Note to readers = mark s posts most often as dispersal activity while he is actually meant to be writing to deadline something which will earn him money. As he has to deliver a manuscript by august expect blizzards of piffle as dog days run. The Twin Massives get the stuff grown-up publications won't let me do.

mark s, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Can we put asterisks next to agpalmer's stats, so we can differentiate between the "true" posters and the funk-fakers?

Also, should we set up a definition for "post" to allow for a level playing field? We should set up a committee & table these discussions at the next ILE/M conference, and implement these standards at the beginning of next season.

Would anyone like a Triscuit?

David Raposa, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Gimme an "O"!

AP, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

set up a committee = frame a sodomite

mark s, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Stitched up in grand Bosie fashion.

Anyhow - is there anyone yet reading ILE who doesnt read ILM? Then the Grate War can really kick off.

Tom, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is there a difference between Bosie and Boise? I really hope not.

As of this post, I will be within five posts of DG. ROCK.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'll have to find many a still from the Lady Marmalade vid to stop you then.

DG, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am completely immune to Lady Marmalade by now, DG. You'll have to think of something else, mwuhahaha.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What about Mecha-Christina? Surely you can't get enough of her?

DG, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Right now, you'd do better tossing random Wimbledon reports my way. Mecha-Christina is dead, long live Mecha-Hingis! Mecha-Hingis is dead, long live fierce US tennis players!

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am still ahead of all of you, and even Mecha-Christina can not stop me! However, you could distract me of pictures of red-headed boys wearing PVC suits. That might do the trick...

masonic boom, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hey wow. Despite my evenings and weekends posting status, I have somehow achieved a certain presence. I will never be top ten tho. I can tell you that right now.

Kim, Wednesday, 27 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hot damn, I'm in the Top Ten! Woo! Now I can quit my job & turn pro!

FYI - Do you realize that ILE has, in less than a month, generated 1/6th the posts that ILM has created in 10 months? 5,000+ posts here, 30,000+ posts there. Wild, wacky stuff. (And we've done it WITHOUT soul. Hot damn.)

David Raposa, Friday, 29 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Down to 15th, I'm sure I post more than that!...I think I will go and post a thankyou for responding message on every question I've ever asked!

james e l, Friday, 29 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

four weeks pass...
I find was myself obsessed with Mikes Numbers.

anthony, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

He should stop posting about me, then his numbers would decrease.

Ally, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

and that ain't the only thing that would. ba- dum-bump.

ethan, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
