today i had nacho's and a beer at the pub as it is a lovely day (but since coming back i wonder what my afternoon would be like if i had swallowed some Crack?)

james (james), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Thing. I always eat Thing. I seldom eat anything except Thing.

Except for when I eat pizza.

kate, Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

please describe "thing" - is it quorn?

james (james), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Thing is a strange combination of fried onions and eggs and cruciferous vegetables and either rice or noodles smothered in some sort of vaguely Oriental sort of sauce.

I never seem to eat anyThing else. Except pizza.

kate, Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Fruit and yoghurt salad. And a boiled egg.
Fried rice with green onions, vinegarar, salt and eggs are GRATE!

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

i had to buy some bread but realised i had no money so walked out into this FANTASTIC weather and took mini dv cam with me filming whatever was ahead of me as i walked, got the Central line one stop to nearest Sainsbury's and bought a fresh wholemeal granary loaf, irish cheese, McCoys crisps, the beverage of cherubs that is Vanilla Coke, and one of those long cream doughnuts, and some grapes - and thats my lunch today

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Diet coke. I can't handle the cafeteria food here at work.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:36 (twenty-two years ago)

i eat the same thing every day...bagel & creamcheese, crisps, and chocolate bar.

except today! i had yummy meze, and got to sit out in the sun, and had lunch with 2 friends. horray.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:37 (twenty-two years ago)

probably salad sandwiches

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

stevm has the best lunch so far - not to mention the best life by the sounds of it

james (james), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

A pre-packaged BLT sandwich that was probably manuafactured and flash frozen 3 weeks ago. Had a Snickers Cruncher as well - num!

robster (robster), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

i have a pizza in the oven.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Today it'll be a veggie burger on this bad-ass sun-dried tomato bread & a spinach salad with these fuckin ripe ass tomatoes and the BOMB DIGGITY miso dressing. I think this makes it one week now I've gone vegetarian.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, congratulations Nick! Hope that works out well for you. :-) I am still omnivorous but I figure most of the world will have to go veg anyway soon enough.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Today I had a toasted BLT made with smoked pancetta slices and with the extra secret ingredient, onion marmalade.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

suzy that sounds simply fantastic - what bread?

james (james), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

My fingers are buttermilk-smelling from turning over the steak which is in a buttermilk/sriracha/yellow-tomato marinade. That'll be lunch, once it's cooked and stuff.

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Bread was just a normal bloomer loaf, but cut by me and toasted. Then lubed with mayo on both and marmalade on one side, the pancetta, tomato, and 'herb salad'.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

i am in the midst of trying to decide right now. the options in this area are not too hot. i will probably end up going out for thai curry, even though it is a little x-pensive.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm thinking two big slices of pizza and a bench somewhere sunny, but it's gonna be tough because this whole neighborhood is like just alleys stitched together. Also hot pizza = not rite for sunnyness? Should I get some kind of cold pasta salad from Ze Tuna instead? WHAT WILL I DO??

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Congrats, Nick!

I think I'll buy a slice of pizza today as well. The Italian joint down the street just started serving deep-dish spinach by the slice, and it's quite tasty. Though I'll probably be sick of it in a couple months, since there are so few dining options within walking distance of work.

Oh, I also brought in a Fuji apple from home. You know, to cleanse the palate.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I had various bits of sandwiches having been on a course all day, a bit of green chicken (chicken in a strangely nummy avocado dressing), some beef and onion and some ham and cheese, accompanied by orange juice and red crisps (they are actually red, and very nice - plain, no flavouring other than a wee bit of salt, how I like them).

Couldn't go outside though :o(

chris (chris), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Thing sounds absolutely divine. I'm in desperate need of some Chinese/Asian (or styled as such) food and Thing sounds like a good kin of a fried rice or lo mein noodle dish. Since I'm another omnivorous person, however, and love shrimp fried rice, I think I would add some shrimp to Thing.

(Although it's a strange thing -- I don't eat red meat. I only eat chicken & seafood. That's still a long way off from being veggie, though.)

Today, my lunch consisted of the Chicken McNuggets Mighty Kids meal, which is a perfect size if you're into Chicken McNuggets but don't want to overstuff yourself with the big adult 10-piece meal. Lunch had enough calories in it already; I don't want to wake up one day weighing 16 stone at my height (5'8"). Anyway, it was fairly decent, as all Chicken McNugget meals are.

I already know what I'm having for lunch tomorrow -- the mandarin chicken salad from Wendy's with a vinaigrette dressing. Now that is a lunch I can look forward to.

Dee the Lurker (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Boston mackeral bento box from Sunrise Mart, with potato salad and egg plant on the side. The overpriced Cutie magazine was not included.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

today - no bkfast, no lunch and many slices of pizza in evening

H (Heruy), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 22:27 (twenty-two years ago)

three months pass...
Terra Chips and a Cherry Garcia bar from Duane Reade.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Since I've been STOOD UP by a young man much feted on these boards, I am eating Pret's open parmesan, basil, avocado and tomato sandwich. It's like 4 different food allergies in one handy meal!

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 13:15 (twenty-one years ago)

"surely they can't mess those up!"

they didn't - best canteen meal in ages.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Japanese Indian Meat + Sauce (translation: Dawg Fewd) splattered no steamed rice. Then red bean soup with some mochi. Equally mediocre. After that half a Leo (sort of Kit Kat but MUCH BETTAH!). I have a stomach cramp. Multiple ones. HELP!

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

our server is apparently on the brink of death, and we have had to shut computers down for 30-90 mins at a time through the last few days. so i took a break from the daily bagel and walked down to m&s and bought a tomato, avacado, mozarella sandwich. and chocolate covered peanuts. yum. so sleepy now, though.

I was gonna order in a nice Veggies W/ Garlic Sauce (xtra spicy, no celery) from my local Chinese place but I feel bad for the delivery guy (it's FREEZING in NYC right now), so I'll probably trudge out and pick it up.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)
