Trainer socks!

Mark C (Mark C), Sunday, 20 April 2003 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Shorts with socks is out, I thought.

Andrew (enneff), Sunday, 20 April 2003 12:55 (twenty-two years ago)

shorts and socks pulled up to the knee

SplendidMullet (iamamonkey), Sunday, 20 April 2003 13:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Since it's about a decade since I wore any casual outfit but my standard one, I think I may not have the answers here.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 20 April 2003 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

nothing from the waist down.

€rik, Sunday, 20 April 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

No shorts! No trainers! Always socks. (and shoes and trousers)

Ian SPACK (Ian SPACK), Sunday, 20 April 2003 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

what spack said.

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 20 April 2003 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

spack speaks the truth!

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 20 April 2003 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Shorts and flip flops and a raggedy t-shirt that says on the front "for a good time call" and on the back your actual telephone number. Silhouette shades.

Skottie, Sunday, 20 April 2003 20:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Shorts are a bad idea.

James Ball (James Ball), Sunday, 20 April 2003 23:17 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah forget shorts go for one of those flattering playsuits instead

minna (minna), Monday, 21 April 2003 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I read that the look for Manchester is "baggy" but this magazine might be kind of old.

felicity (felicity), Monday, 21 April 2003 00:55 (twenty-two years ago)

but gareth you wear "trainers" -- if a young man is feeling the shorts vibe this summer, i recommend tennis style socks with sneakers...

Mary (Mary), Monday, 21 April 2003 01:30 (twenty-two years ago)

yes i have to agree w/ mary if you do end up wearing shorts. definitely socks, and not those little stumpy ones

minna (minna), Monday, 21 April 2003 01:33 (twenty-two years ago)

sheesh. what's the deal with shorts here ?
why do they get such a slagging ?
i guess it's all a question of how nice yr legs are .

piscesboy, Tuesday, 22 April 2003 11:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Some people just really hate shorts, only about 1% of the population actually look good in them so the chances are you're gonna look bad, innit?

Trainer socks, always trainer socks! DO NOT wear trainers with sports socks, you will be ridiculed.

smee (smee), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 11:50 (twenty-two years ago)

smee what in the name of the lord are
trainer sox and what are their function ?

piscesboy, Tuesday, 22 April 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

They're socks that only cover the foot rather than the ankle/calf too. The idea is you're wearing socks, but they're next to invisible. Ergo you avoid the dilemma entirely!

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 13:07 (twenty-two years ago)

alternatively a good football sock pushed down looks ace (in a crap sort of way)

chris (chris), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 13:22 (twenty-two years ago)

It's all about the socks!

Dara, Tuesday, 22 April 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Lose the socks dude.

Alex K (Alex K), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

woah ! hang fire, the problem for me is
the aesthetics. if it's there but can't be seen then
...what's the point ?!!
(as long as u r clean/fresh obv.)

piscesboy, Tuesday, 22 April 2003 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

it depends on the trainer surely? One of your more fashion orientated pairs (esp those ugly new adidas) and more lightweight pairs want either no socks or trainer socks, whereas bigger trainers such as skate trainers or basketball shoes want a bigger sock (in my case always rolled down with shorts)
