is that Scrooge McDuck, Tuomas? What's he called in Finnish? Is it true that everyone in Finland loves Donald Duck because he has the same personality type as all Finnish people? In which case, is it true that Finns walk around naked from the waist down?

is that Scrooge McDuck, Tuomas? What's he called in Finnish?

Roope Ankka. (Ankka = duck in Finnish.)

Is it true that everyone in Finland loves Donald Duck because he has the same personality type as all Finnish people? In which case, is it true that Finns walk around naked from the waist down?

"Aku Ankka" (="Donald Duck"), the local Disney comic book is very popular here, I think might even be the most popular weekly magazine. Donald is much loved here, but not because he hasn't got any trousers. People like Donald because he's always the underdog, and Finns tend to symphatize with losers. Mickey Mouse, for example, is less popular here because he's an achiever, more of an American type of personality.

our intrepid reporters have advised that the ducklings formed a circle in the fountain, bills inward, and promptly went to sleep.

This March I was working in downtown DC, about 3 blocks from the White House. One day at lunchtime I saw a pair of ducks walking north on 13th Street. They probably were in search of a park or planter in which to make a nest. (Perheps this was the mother duck that made her nest right by the Treasury Building, and therefore was watched over by the Secret Service.)

also mallard duck mating is very O_o

it is just like an unknown puzzle till the end of the world (dyao), Sunday, 28 March 2010 04:45 (fifteen years ago)

Of course, drakes don’t mate with the air. Having made this video, Brennan still needed a way to see how a duck penis actually performs its appointed task. Unable to film duck penises in a real female oviduct, she built a fake oviduct out of silcone. She then managed to get a drake to mate with it. But the overwhelming force of the explosive penis broke the fake oviduct.

:O

two years pass...

I was listening to someone on R4 saying that you should feed ducks peas rather than bread because it better meets their dietary needs and bread isn't good for the waterways system. Half of the peas I brought out for the ducks today immediately sank into the depths and the other half that I put on the embankment got eaten by a Labrador.
