intentional eavesdropping

I hardly ever do it because I never go out, but yesterday I was in the coffee shop enjoying some hummous and there were a girl and a boy, college students, sitting near me studying. I love eavesdropping.

He: "I just can't afford the 18 bucks for a CD, but sometimes I feel bad about downloading things...like, I really like the White Stripes but I haven't bought their album."

She: (affirmative sound)

He: "You know they pretend to be brother and sister but they're actually husband and wife, right? But I think they're divorced now or something."

She: (silence)

Later, when the coffee shop puts on Bjork's greatest hits:

He: "Wow, I really like her. You know she used to be in a band called the Sugarcubes, right?"

She: (silence)

I read your post as "yesterday I was in the coffee shop enjoying some humorous".

intentional eavesdropping that's approaching tautology, isn't it.
