I am going to take up cricket.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

jel, you would make an awesome cricket player!

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

an example of what I had to wear from grades 1-6 when I was forced toattend[ed] the school in the photo:

Grades 7 - 12 I made damn sure I went to a school with no dress code.

hstencil, Wednesday, 23 April 2003 20:04 (twenty-two years ago)

you think? cool! Seriously, playing cricket was the only real new years resolution I made.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 20:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah!

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

The lack of county cricket may be a problem, since I understand London is not in a county, but yeah!

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 20:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

London has two counties playing within. Surrey and Middlesex.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 20:10 (twenty-two years ago)

*sigh* no matter how hard they try, American private schools will only ever be poor facsmilies of British public schools.

hstencil, Wednesday, 23 April 2003 20:10 (twenty-two years ago)

(felicity - there is middlesex [yay] and surrey [boo], but I'm thinking more of making the 2nd team of some local club! :)

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 20:12 (twenty-two years ago)

(ah, ed beat me to it! I never got round to turning on the x-post option)

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I luv 30s-60s girls annual school uniforms. Most days I try to dress in my version of them. Today its shirt, tie, cardie, blazer and wool skirt all in black, grey and dark red. It is sooo fun choosing my school colours for the day.

ducklingmonster (ducklingmonster), Thursday, 24 April 2003 03:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I do not like cricket players something about the white outfit makes them want to flash

ducklingmonster (ducklingmonster), Thursday, 24 April 2003 03:40 (twenty-two years ago)

The difference between the fantasy of cricket players and the reality is quite a stark one. At the end of the day they are sports men and they all still sing 'Oh Sir Eustace'.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 24 April 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

whoa.

hstencil, Thursday, 24 April 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know why anyone with who had to wear a uniform would be nostalgic about them. I still have an aversion to collar and tie.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 24 April 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Did you know that the Japanese boys uniform is based on that of the Prussian army?

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 25 April 2003 04:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i found a lovely japanese sailor school uniform at search and destroy on st. mark's place, but they were charging $400+ for it...and i could see on the tag that it was like 19000yen...i didn't get:( i noticed the boys jacket on a manequin out of the corner of my eye the other day but i shudder to think what it costs...

Mary (Mary), Friday, 25 April 2003 04:29 (twenty-two years ago)

holy shit.. $400. i should have picked one up when i was in japan.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 25 April 2003 04:31 (twenty-two years ago)

also, i think australian schoolgirl outfits make them all look like housemaids.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 25 April 2003 04:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Rosemary, if we can find the petticoat featured under this skirt I will consider our trip a success.
