That "Arthur's Theme" was supposedly about Sid & Nancy, at least before it was re-written for the movie. (Didn't we have a thread about this?)

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Friday, 25 April 2003 00:12 (twenty-two years ago)

When the butler in Arthur's fiancee's house says "Walk this way", and then proceeds to lead Arthur and Arthur follows his gait.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Friday, 25 April 2003 01:36 (twenty-two years ago)

when they are sitting in the church and he says "do you promise never to put that stuff on my face again?"

rainy (rainy), Friday, 25 April 2003 01:56 (twenty-two years ago)

mine is when john gielgud (sp?) (plays his butler) has drawn drunken arthur a bath and asks, 'shall i wash your dick, sir?' (or maybe it's 'ass'; i can't quite recall)

anyway, according to the 'arthur personality test' that means i am a pervert. i wish i could protest the results, but the accuracy of the test is pretty unimpeachable.

I love this film so much, I could recite the whole film! I love the bit when he takes a lady of the nite out to dinner! very funny film. Sadly Dudley Moore has passed.

"Offer to take my coat"

"But you aren't wearing a coat, sir!"

"Well, then offer to take my tie!"

boredom... then booze.

Sterling Salt (pvc), Friday, 25 April 2003 08:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Gielgud, always Gielgud, who would undoubtedly be my role model if the physical discrepancies were not insuperable.

Two moments above all: (1) when Dudley Moore is about to resume lovemaking and Gielgud strides into the bedroom booming ‘Please STOP THAT!’ (2) when an unpleasant man is slagging off Dudley Moore, and Gielgud answers loftily ‘Oh, I really wouldn’t know, sir, I’m only a servant. On the other hand, go screw yourself.
