often confused with anteaters, actually they're in a taxonomic class of their own...their closest living relatives being manatees (sea cows).

i say these nocturnal termite-loving denizens of sub-saharan africa are classic!

They're better than pangolins, even! Sort of a cross between a bear, a kangaroo, a pig, and a vacuum cleaner! In fact, their name MEANS "earth pig"! And they have tubes for teeth! And they're so rare that zoos often display dead ones, pretending they're merely asleep!!

Not to mention that "first in the dictionary,* first in peace, first in war, last in the American League" stuff....

* -- before Aardwolfs, even!! (Or Aardwolves, for that matter.)

no one has as much style as the aardvark. they are for real.
