I'm partial to longish hair, & medium length bobs. Bangs are bangs. Braiding doesn't float my boat, personally, but change is good. Split ends, though - the really obvious ones - are anathema. Bad juju.
And why do elderly women tease their hair to the heights of St. Peter and FROST? Still wondering about that one.

Also, the Princess Diana haircut, with the shortish hair and feathered sides. My mom cut my hair like this when I was a kid, and I had no choice in the matter. But why do I still occaisonally see this haircut in 2001?
Anyone with any kind of scrunchie in their hair in public should be hauled to the barber and forced to have their head shaved.
The "Rachel" haircut.

NoNoNoNoNo. Do you see? It. Is. Wrong.
Search: Long, striaght hair. Always. Forever.
NOT the FUCKING 'Pixie' cut.
For FUCKS SAKE.

UTTER DUD: long, perfectly straight, perfectly lank 70s style hair which is so en vogue in suburban London. Has become the new Essex Gel style.
CLASSIC: two symetrical bunches. Especially when combined with bangs.
Over the years, after every hair error imaginable (mohawk? Check! skinhead? check! pink hair? check!) I have come to the conclusion that hair that is natural is hair that is the best. Anything which has to be backcombed or straightened or moussed or gelled or hairsprayed into place is just WRONG. Especially if it involves wax.
I am not, however, talking about colour. If god had not intended us to dye our hair, she would have invented Miss Clairol, Ferria or Manic Panic. So there.

Dyed hair? If it's a colour hair could actually be, sure. I know that's a Dad Opinion but tough.
Short hair yes. Long hair yes. Bangs yes. Bunches and scrunches no. Bobs yes to Louise Brooks, no to ubiquitous late-90s Van Outen wannabes.
Were the late 90s the blandest time for mainstream fashion ever, incidentally? People too busy laughing at other decades perceived mistakes to bother looking interesting?
80s Madonna hair look YES.

Long lank straight hair only good if you're very pretty. Otherwise, rubbish.
Clips and pigtails, if not overdone, or combined with irritating indie-girl tweeness - classic. Rachel's bob in latest Friends series - classic Farrah Fawcett wings - still classic, even if it is so 1999 Curls - almost always dud, but see below Rita Heyworth / Claudia Cardinale luxuriant long, wavy, beautifully conditioned wavy hair - the most classic of classics.

Incidentally, grossest thing EVER: my boyfriend of the time once walked up to me, wiped off some lipgloss with his finger, straight off my lips, and ATE IT. WTF?!?!?!?!
Getting back to hair, my hair is that wavy long crap that gets frizzed out in humidity but just lies there if you don't go through ten tons of products. So I chopped it off, it's around midneck now, very layered up and can do both the Farrah/Josie-and-the-Pussycats thing or the Rachel-bob or the Meg-Ryan-thing and it's even long enough tthat I can pull it up, which I've been taking to lately. It's the most versatile hairstyle I've ever had.
Which still doesn't stop me from wishing I had my superhuge, layered, down to mid-back Shania Twain do back.

"I don't care about the state of my hair, I get something out of nothing that just wasn't there..." or words to that effect by the Jesus and Mary Chain. Who clearly never spent an ounce of effort on their hair, oh no.

I'm trying to grow my hair back long. Luckily my hair grows like growing is going out of style, so I've already got shoulder length hair when I just cut it a little more than a month ago.

Long hair = dud. Sorry, but I find long hair on girls quite unattractive. The longer it is, the creepier it gets.

i used to know a girl in massachusetts who had one back in the mid/late 90's. she was pretty and mod and really rich and liked to buy me shots.

I'd accept shots from a girl in a beehive, because I'd assume she was up to something (that I might like).
