I have Roxio Easy CD Creator 5, it came with my computer. It's okay, usually gets the job done. I don't think it's that expensive to buy.

Nero 5.5 works best for me. You can use the wizard for ease, or get into all the options which you'll probably get into.

yeah i have a similar question-basically i downloaded a mix that was divided into tracks, and i cant burn it without there being a one second pause when each track starts
(this includes using the copy as once option or whatever its called)
so does anyone know what software will copy tracks and let them run into each other?

Generally if a PC has a CD burner there will be software pre-installed with which to use it, no?

Windows Media player will burn CD's, & will either be on the PC or you can get it for free. Although as Roxio's Easy CD Creator came as part of the package, I have never used it for that purpose on this PC.

Ah I was about to give Windows Media Player a try, excuse my ignorance. thanks.

if you want a completely kick ass cd program, it's cd architect by sonic foundry. however it is expensive.

in nero you can change the spacing between songs (default is 3 sec, i think) but i can't guarantee that will eliminate all gaps

longshot - qcd player (which will play cd's gapless, which i've not been able to do with winamp or wmp) has a nero output plugin available. some chance this might produce a gap-free cd, but who knows??

Most assured way of preserving the exact gaps (or lack thereof) from an original source CD is to simply do CD Copy. But since those trax are dl'd, you'll have to manually do it (in Nero, just highlight 'em all, rightclick and go to properities). The continuity from one track to the other will then solely depend on the music itself, if I'm making myself clear.

What about recording vinyl to your PC for CD burning? Anything out there that works better than the comes-with-PC software? Anything good for pop/click removal?

Acoustica thingbob whatsit is fantastic and eliminates gaps to the exact extent that you want.

Also is it easy to copy MP3s from a CD or your hard drive onto another CD, but as regular songs (wav files is it?). When I say is it easy I mean will I manage it by messing around with windows media player for a while this afternoon?

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 29 April 2003 09:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Get a free prog called cdex from cdexos.sourceforge.net. It will rip from cd to mp3 and wav and will convert between those formats. You need wav files to burn a cd to listen to on your stereo.

It also picks up the track names from freedb so you don't have to type in the cd track names.

Thanks Mark.

Razor Lame is also free & an efficient converter of .mp3's to .wav's (& vice versa)

What I want to do is copy my mp3s onto a cd and play them in my DVD player, which plays MP3s. In theory this is dead simple, but using Easy CD creator it just sits there saying it's 'checking for test files' for eons, and makes no attempt to talk to the cd drive, ie. the little green light does nowt. Anyone got any handy tips?

Ah no wait, SOMETHING IS HAPPENING...

Just hit 'cancel' on this part of the process - it's an unnecessary step (yes, it happens to me every time I make a data CD-R; I've never bothered to check whether I've set something up wrong).
