this is the thread for the people currently in pain to express their suffering.

i tripped over the stairs at my friend's house last night (yes, i was drunk), and this morning it's the size of a small grapefruit (same colour too). i'm now waiting for said friend to come and take me to the hospital. OW!

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 1 May 2003 05:46 (twenty-one years ago) link

Er, what's the size of a small grapefruit?

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Thursday, 1 May 2003 05:53 (twenty-one years ago) link

i'm not sure, really. it sounded funny. i think i'm ripping it off from somewhere.

oh, wait, i am a bit dim this morning. it's still early. the bruise is the size of a small grapefruit.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 1 May 2003 06:04 (twenty-one years ago) link

holy shit, jim and i googled the exact same grapefruit picture!! honestly, that was a x-post. anyway, OW.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 1 May 2003 06:05 (twenty-one years ago) link

also, it's not that colour, it's grape-coloured. i was hoping there was a kind of grapefruit that was grape-coloured.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 1 May 2003 06:06 (twenty-one years ago) link

yeah, that's more like it. (i wonder if i also damaged my brain in the fall.)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 1 May 2003 06:09 (twenty-one years ago) link

And now I have ruptured all the muscles in my stomach from laughing at this thread. OW!

Paul in Santa Cruz (Paul in Santa Cruz), Thursday, 1 May 2003 06:17 (twenty-one years ago) link

Jim, Im suprised you didn't have a pic of Bender holding a grapefruit :D

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 1 May 2003 06:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

i see now that i gave no indication AT ALL as to what part of me i hurt. that would be my ankle, my right ankle. (i'm not sure if i actually got to sleep last night.)

Today I will be mostly designing a small grapefruit-sized stair.

good gnus: no cast! just strapt up for a couple weeks.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 1 May 2003 09:51 (twenty-one years ago) link

I hurt the outside top knuckle of my left hand the other night in a childish, petulant fit of slugging my monitor screen because I had serious connection problems. Still a bit sore. Is this healthy behaviour for a pacifist? In my defence, I'm only ever violent toward inanimate objects...

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Thursday, 1 May 2003 16:07 (twenty-one years ago) link

I moved yesterday and I ache.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 1 May 2003 16:11 (twenty-one years ago) link

I just have stomach problems. Not funny, but true.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Thursday, 1 May 2003 16:12 (twenty-one years ago) link

I moved yesterday and I ache.
Solution: stop moving.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 1 May 2003 16:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

I was shutting a ring binder notebook and one of the metal rings snapped on my hand. I wish I wasn't such a klutz.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 1 May 2003 16:15 (twenty-one years ago) link

I think my rib is fractured from a collision during soccer last week. Will this stop me from soccering it up tonight? OF COURSE NOT!

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 1 May 2003 16:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

I've been sick for 2 weeks. Currently, my throat hurts. This 32oz Big Gulp of Mt. Dew is probably helping, right?

Stuart (Stuart), Thursday, 1 May 2003 16:33 (twenty-one years ago) link

My left wrist has been very sore to move since Monday. I have no clue what I did and can only imagine that it's due to driving 5 hours using only my left hand.

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 1 May 2003 16:48 (twenty-one years ago) link

What were you doing with your right hand Carey!?!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 1 May 2003 16:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

I have a weird shooting pain in my forearm that only pronounces itself when I'm putting my weight on my elbows/forearms (which is why, while doing a yoga headstand last night, I fell, thus bruising my shin). One booboo always has to lead to another, why, why, why!?!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 1 May 2003 16:59 (twenty-one years ago) link

yoga headstand = you are a hippie.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:04 (twenty-one years ago) link

Giving the creepy hitchhiker I picked up a handjob for 5 hours. I was doing NOTHING nickalicious! I just actually always drive with one hand. I was really tired and maybe I kept my hand in the same postition too long.

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:05 (twenty-one years ago) link

No, yoga headstand = I like to be in good shape & have good balance & concentration *harumph!*

(I'm sorry Carey, this place has made me all pervy!)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:10 (twenty-one years ago) link

Creepy hitchhikers are known for their handjob stamina.

buttch (Oops), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:11 (twenty-one years ago) link

I've been coughing dramatically at work today so that I can call in and be "sick" tomorrow. Ironically, it's making my throat a little sore.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

Creepy hitchhikers are known for their handjob stamina.

You know it! If I could get my hands on Rutger Hauer rooowwwrr! (um that's a "joke").

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

Make that 'hand'.

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

Don't you mean get your hand on Rutger Hauer?

*soemone in audience boos and throws rotten tomato*

(Damnit Carey beating me to the joke wif da CROSSPOST! GRR!)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

(I'm sorry Carey, this place has made me all pervy)

I wish I could blame it on this place.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

Aloha, Mr Hand.

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

Carey: As in "Talk to the hand"?

Does emotional suffering count?

I am an undisputed introvert. Give me a text to edit and let me work by myself. However, one of the lead editors today is a touchy-feely extroverted type, and for the last couple of days she's been chatty and hanging around my workstation. Straightening up my desk while I was still working there, trying to tidy away things that I was using, asking me about a past interview for a job that I hadn't been interested in. It's taken all my moral strength to not yell at her to go away and not bug me again.

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:28 (twenty-one years ago) link

It's a Fast Times At Ridgemont High reference.

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:30 (twenty-one years ago) link

And the Rutger Hauer thing is a "The Hitcher" reference. For those that thought I had a weird Rutger fetish.

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:34 (twenty-one years ago) link

Who wouldn't have a Rutger fetish, weird or not?

Um, me. I don't.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm a pretty strong girl, but I think Rutger could crush me. Or hitch me to the back of a car and rip me apart.

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:42 (twenty-one years ago) link

I just had a dream about The Hitcher this morning (it's what I woke up from before logging on just now). Carey, give me back my head. I think.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:43 (twenty-one years ago) link

Like I said, I wasn't doing anything with my right hand, Tep.

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:46 (twenty-one years ago) link

Rutger made a very homoerotic appearance on Alias a few months ago, that was fun.

J.Lu, I sympathize with you. I think I would snap if I had to work like that with someone continually bothering me.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:52 (twenty-one years ago) link

Like I said, I wasn't doing anything with my right hand, Tep.

That reminds me, when I invent my subjective clock (the one that doesn't say "3:00," it says "go to sleep, fucker"), right about now would be quarter-of still too tired to avoid implying handjobs.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:58 (twenty-one years ago) link

My subjective clock says its: http://www.lamer.net/bonertime.jpg

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 1 May 2003 17:59 (twenty-one years ago) link

Clock.

It's got an L in it.

(If cock has an L in it, talk to a) the doctor, b) the circus, c) a "talent agent.")

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 1 May 2003 18:02 (twenty-one years ago) link

My clock says it's thread derailment time.

I remember being so confused when watching Growing Pains and seeing that they had a character named Boner. How could they?

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 1 May 2003 18:05 (twenty-one years ago) link

"We gotta capture the key teen demographic with a young, edgy character...I've got it! Boner!"

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 1 May 2003 18:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

This is the part where I say something funny about boners, re: young, maybe, but edgy? Maybe if it had an L in it.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 1 May 2003 18:15 (twenty-one years ago) link

J. Lu and Nicole OTM regarding coworkers like that. Thankfully all the ones I have had here respect the balance between conversation and imposition, so here's hoping my lucky streak continues.
