"stalkers"

Wow. I am testing a new web server for my ISP, and I put a couple of pages up already. So, I've been checking the web logs, and this morning I found that this guy who used to follow me around the 'net telling lies about me is *still checking up on me*. This is about two years after we had any sort of flame war.

I know he has every right to surf wherever he wants, but I'm still a little disturbed by this. He's probably reading this as I speak, and I know from past experience that he's glad I'm paying attention to him, because in the past he used to say inflammatory things about me in the hopes that I would stop ignoring him and get into a flame war again. What a fucked-up freak. I just don't want to know that there is someone out there so obsessed with me.

Gah, that's crazy. But it's really not that uncommon, especially on the internet. It just makes it too easy for crazy stalker types to keep tabs on their obsessions. I have an internet stalker, and I thought he'd give up and go away with time, but honestly... THREE YEARS after it was all over, he still sends me mail. Even threatened to come to some of the dates on our recent tour.

I don't know what to tell you. It's like, if you answer back, even to tell them to fuck off, that is an encouragement. If you don't answer back, they take it as some sort of silent complicity that you're OK with their actions, as you're "allowing" them to continue.

But hey, really. Just know that it is a testament to your interestingness that he's still following you after all this time, and a testament to his lack of a life that he still has the inclination - and clearly the time, since he's obviously not doing anything else with his life - to follow you. Just remember that.

post his IP and other info up here so that he isn't so anonymous. people often tend to do this kind of shit behind anonymity, coz they daren't reveal themselves. let them be exposed a little.

We are going to add on to our new job application forms if the applicant minds being googled on the net - just so we can see if they are crazy or not. So the above idea would work as an excellent way of scaring stalkers off.

Is it just me or is the terms Stalker really rubbish.

romantic literature and hollywood movies are entirely full of ppl who get the girl (sometimes boy) by being bonkers stalkers and NOT GIVING UP

BooXoR wd be shorter, tho possibly less uplifting, if chapter one ended: SO I GAVE UP AND NEVER THOUGHT OF HER AGAIN.

Dante: "Beatrice? She was five!! And then she got married and now she's dead — what was I thinking?"

I cannot fathom stalking someone on the Internet. It seems like a lot of trouble to go through to prove that you have no life.

*obsessively rechecks Grr to ensure I'm being talked about and to see what Dan will be doing next* I'm sorry, you were saying?

Stalker is such a harsh word, can't you call us, er I mean them, disciples or something.

I have an innocent stalker. Innocent because I know he won't harm me. Stalker because after all these years he still contacts me. Luckily he doesn't he the server anymore. He used to read my emails. I asked him to leave me alone one time. He said "For how long?" I was perplexed and muttered "Six months." Sure enough, half a year later he came round to ask me on a date. *sigh*

By "stalker", I mean someone who seriously wants to fuck with you, not someone who's an admirer. I've had some over-ardent admirers, but that doesn't disturb me too much. I don't want to go into too much detail, but this person likes to fuck with people - not physically, but through the net. Also, his obsession with me is an antagonistic one, although I suppose an admire could be just as crazy and/or threatening.

That is frightening. Good luck getting rid of him.

Revealed to someone last night that I had run their name through google when bored. Worried that said person now convinced I am stalker.

alex t, Tuesday, 11 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

said person does not think that Alex T is a stalker, as said person can on reflection think of equivalent examples of sad behaviour in same context. though admitedly none of them involve computers/web sites. so at best it's flattering, at worst it's geeky....

two years pass...
Be very careful about who you deem a 'stalker'. I am a very average person. Not a head-turner, or a 'Barbie Doll' by any means, yet I managed to find a stalker. This is a guy named Todd McMurdo who lives in San Luis Obispo, California. He has done the same thing to other women, usually ex-girlfriends. What are some good hints- He has no job. (If they do, it is usually temporary). He has no assets. No vehicle. No insurance. No education. They can't account for their time. They have no close ties to their own family. Follow your instincts. The one I hear a lot is, "My family just hates him. My friends can't stand him". Is everybody wrong and only you and he right? Now, your family & friends not liking your fella is one thing. But added together with all of the other precursers, and you might have a potential stalker.
