That's all I want to know, just "why?"

luna (luna.c), Friday, 2 May 2003 20:35 (twenty-two years ago)

because, just because

Ed (dali), Friday, 2 May 2003 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Why not?

Aaron W (Aaron W), Friday, 2 May 2003 20:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Annie Lennox to thread!

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 2 May 2003 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, ok.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 2 May 2003 20:42 (twenty-two years ago)

The Byrds to thread!

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Friday, 2 May 2003 20:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Because life is sick and cruel.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 2 May 2003 20:56 (twenty-two years ago)

My dad had a crazy professor when he was getting his doctorate in psychology. The final was just "WHY?" Dad got the only A in the class (see above), "Because" earned a B, and everyone else (who were all scribbling away like mad) got Fs.

I think my dad might've been embellishing, but it's a good story.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Friday, 2 May 2003 21:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Hate to burst yr bubble there lovah, but I think 500,000,000,000 other dads were in the same class!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Friday, 2 May 2003 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

whyever not?

Matt (Matt), Friday, 2 May 2003 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Why what?

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 2 May 2003 23:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Because I said so!

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 2 May 2003 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

now you got Runaway by Del Shannon in my head, people!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 2 May 2003 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

It's all very simple, really.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Friday, 2 May 2003 23:06 (twenty-two years ago)

There are worse things. I am in such a goddamned foul mood I can't stand myself.

I don't know why, though.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 2 May 2003 23:06 (twenty-two years ago)

If they say --
Why, why, tell 'em that it's human nature

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 2 May 2003 23:35 (twenty-two years ago)

It's complicated.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 2 May 2003 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, why d'you have to make things so complicated? < /Lavigne>

Matt (Matt), Friday, 2 May 2003 23:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Chickenbutt!

Leee (Leee), Friday, 2 May 2003 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

(reminds me of my son: "you know what?" what? "chickenbutt" "you know why?" why? "chickenpie").

luna (luna.c), Friday, 2 May 2003 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw

Matt (Matt), Saturday, 3 May 2003 00:02 (twenty-two years ago)

(I meant that, btw, recent ILX fun and games mean I feel I need to explain myself all the time)

Matt (Matt), Saturday, 3 May 2003 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I wouldn't mind having a mom like you, luna.

Leee (Leee), Saturday, 3 May 2003 02:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a lot of fun, Leee.

luna (luna.c), Saturday, 3 May 2003 03:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I prefer chickenpie to chickenbutt every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Saturday, 3 May 2003 05:05 (twenty-two years ago)

money, most likely.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Saturday, 3 May 2003 05:25 (twenty-two years ago)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Sunday, 4 May 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

(screamed at the top of my lungs into the night-sky of course)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Sunday, 4 May 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

(reminds me of my son: "you know what?" what? "chickenbutt" "you know why?" why? "chickenpie").

"Where?" "Chickenbear!"

j.lu (j.lu), Sunday, 4 May 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

"You know how?" "How?" "Chickencow!"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 4 May 2003 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

"You know when?" "When?" "Hen!"

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 4 May 2003 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

See, now I think "chicken-hen" would have been funnier. It was close.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 4 May 2003 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

"You know who?" "Who?" "Chickenpoo!"

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 4 May 2003 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

If y'all think I'm telling him all these so his teacher will call me and ask me why he's teaching all the other kids to say chickenpoo, you are... actually probably not far wrong.

I can feel the call coming on now.

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 4 May 2003 19:31 (twenty-two years ago)

"Do you know which?" "Which?" "CHICKENBITCH!"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 4 May 2003 19:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Though I may keep that one to myself... I've finally weaned him of his penchant to say "that fucking sucks, Mama..." so it's probably not a good idea to offer a replacement.

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 4 May 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

"Do you know with whom?" "With whom?" "CHICKEN POOM-POOM!"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 4 May 2003 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

"Do you know in what way?" "in what way?" "Chicken boo-tay!"

buttch (Oops), Sunday, 4 May 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

"Do you know the muffin man?" "What muffin man?" "CHICKEN MUFF IN A CAN."

Tep (ktepi), Sunday, 4 May 2003 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

...not...helping.....

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 4 May 2003 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

"Who's on second?" "No, Who's on first." "CHICKEN BURST."

Tep (ktepi), Sunday, 4 May 2003 20:31 (twenty-two years ago)

"Who's your Daddy?" "CHICKEN PATTY!"

Tep (ktepi), Sunday, 4 May 2003 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

because Rick, the peoples' poet, is dead

mookieproof (mookieproof), Sunday, 4 May 2003 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

"Do you know who's best? "Who's best?" "CHICKEN BREAST"
"Do you know it?" "it?" "CHICKEN CLIT"

buttch (Oops), Sunday, 4 May 2003 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Do chickens even ha... nevermind, I don't want to know.

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 4 May 2003 20:39 (twenty-two years ago)

no, they don't you stickler

buttch (Oops), Sunday, 4 May 2003 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

The only other one I can think of is "Who is John Galt?" "CHICKEN MALT!" which makes me think of the joint in New Orleans East with the big sign saying "CHICKEN DAIQUIRI." ("it's okay, the whiskey kills the salmonella.")

Tep (ktepi), Sunday, 4 May 2003 20:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I have truly missed a debate for the ages this day.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 4 May 2003 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Help, I can't see anymore, the tears in me eyes are fogging up me glasses!

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 5 May 2003 00:06 (twenty-two years ago)

You know, for all of the little other things (someone who likes me and some of the stuff I like, too), all I really want is someone who'll watch the sunset with me every day.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 May 2003 02:22 (twenty-two years ago)

You know, we all see the same sun going over the horizon every day, so in a way, EVERYONE watches the sunset with you.

^ Oh gawd I'm such a friggin hippie.

Anyway, if you ever are feeling overwhelmingly lonely or whatever, just think about your son, and that you've at least got him around for company/affection/etc, and maybe even think about how quickly they grow, and that this'll be your only chance to be with him while he's at this particular(ly adorable) time in his life. This helps me out when I'm feeling that sorta "down", sometimes at least.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 5 May 2003 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't feel I have too many comforts. Lost myself in a book or a film, maybe. Otherwise, just block negative things out, which I'm finding does nominally work, although I'm not really sure it's awfully healthy. Can't think of many other ways to deal with the fact that no one really likes me (not even my mother, it seems, at times!), or the fact that I'm increasingly of the mind that there are good reasons for it...

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Monday, 5 May 2003 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

"Tell me why is it hard to make arrangements for yourself..."

Neil Young songs will be in my head all day long (per the usual).

hstencil, Monday, 5 May 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh it's not that I'm not grateful for Spencer - he's the light of my life - it's more of an "I think this would be exceedingly cool" type of thing. You know, sometimes, as couples, you have these things... I just want that to be a thing.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 May 2003 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I understand FULLY what you mean by "these things". I love having certain "things", certain events & moments you share with someone. But then I hate that, once you've had "these things" (like, fr'instance, climbing out on the roof and watching the sun set every night) with certain people, and then your coupledom comes to an end, the "things" you did together suddenly take on this new remind-you-of-how-it-was aspect, and suddenly you're all like "screw the sunset, it reminds me of [insert ex's name here], I'm just gonna go inside"...and, well, that feeling BLOWS.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 5 May 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe I'll just move to a mountaintop in Nepal...

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 May 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

But it's so cold there!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 5 May 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd find a way to keep luna warm.

hstencil, Monday, 5 May 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

hot air?

buttch (Oops), Monday, 5 May 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, delivered via the sweet nothings I'd whisper into her ear.

hstencil, Monday, 5 May 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

but didn't she go there to get away from hornballs like us?

buttch (Oops), Monday, 5 May 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I dunno, but I'd move to Nepal to watch sunsets with luna in a heartbeat.

hstencil, Monday, 5 May 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

It is cold there and I bet there's no running water on the tops of mountains and if I don't take a hot shower every day, I am NOT pleasant to be around (and no, not 'cos I'm stinky, either).

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 May 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

On to Plan X.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 May 2003 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Planet Ten?

hstencil, Monday, 5 May 2003 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

From outer space. Oh wait it is in outer space.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 5 May 2003 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Saving chimps from being experimented on w/Matthew Broderick?

buttch (Oops), Monday, 5 May 2003 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

If I told you what it was, it would hardly be Top Extra Special Super Secret Plan X, now would it?

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 May 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

well shit, you didn't say nothing about Top Extra Special Super Secret.

buttch (Oops), Monday, 5 May 2003 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that anything like the Special Sauce on a Big Mac?

(luna, email me if you like)

hstencil, Monday, 5 May 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Top Extra Special Super Secret was implied... also, it's Tope Extra Special Super Secret, so I can hardly go around throwing that phrase about, willy nilly, can I? Geez, you don't get this secret agent spy stuff at all.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 May 2003 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

(top, not tope...)

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 May 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Lady, I wrote the book. Report back to HQ ASAP for retraining.

buttch (Oops), Monday, 5 May 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that like the terrorism alert coding? Is Mauve or Beige Extra Special Super Secret higher priority than Tope Extra Special Super Secret? Eh?

(OH BUGGER CROSSPOST MRGH!)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 5 May 2003 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

NZA, I want your badge on my desk by tomorrow morning.

buttch (Oops), Monday, 5 May 2003 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)
