i like the album. you've reminded me to take it home, it's been languishing on my desk all week.

i have a single and i think it's good because: despite/added to some kind of foregrounded bleep-synthy electro action it has got really really funky percussion; the two things push each other far and deep; i also like it cause it's got great dynamics i.e. there are soft bits and loud bits and you don't quite know when to expect them

legowelt i've not heard much of except to know that it sounds exactly like its name

Legowelt and Bangkok Impact (and Orgue Electronique) are all in the U.S. right now -- just saw them in Chicago, and was even more impressed than I've been by the recordings. Legowelt has some terrific tracks -- Seigbran could probably give a better listing than I could -- but with the exception of the surprisingly glossy "Disco Rout" they're a bit grotty and lo-fi and sort of what you'd expect from a guy who likes to do two-handed devil signs. ("Fizzcarraldo" is the big stand-out, I think.)

The great thing about Bangkok Impact is that they've can go the big noir-disco stomp of the "west coast of Holland" sound -- like Legowelt and other Bunker Records things -- but they've also got a thing for light-disco and most importantly for melody, which makes their stuff a lot more flexible and interesting than a lot of the comparable stuff I've heard. The album's terrific. Their version of "Like a Virgin" probably shouldn't exist at all (about like Tiga's "Hot in Herre" shouldn't exist) but the album's so good they're forgiven.

yeah, it's electro and on the same label as IT and My Computer so you expect a certain thing from it, but then you put it on side-by-side with other stuff and it's so tuneful that really cuts through it like a breath of fresh air, lifting the beats right off your shoulders; it is FUN!!

The Legowelt guy has an album out under the name Squadra Blanco that's pretty good -- it's on Holosythesis, I think. There's a track with a synth line that reminds me of the Mary Jane Girls' In My House, but it's a bit more sinister. My favorite Legowelt track is easily 2002.

"Fear Of Your Eyes" ended up on a lot of mixtapes I was making around Christmas.
"Junge Dame Mit Freundlicher Telefonstimme" is really good but I've only had a few chances to listen (= my flatmate is on holiday so I can't get access to his computer).
Legowelt have a really good video.

Does Siegbran post on ILE at all? Someone should email him the URL of this thread, or something.
