Son of Satan so completely owns this thread, but who else?

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 5 May 2003 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Iron Man, because he is a boozehound. Or at least the Twisted Toyfare Theatre version of Iron Man.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 5 May 2003 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

The Bash Street Kids

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 May 2003 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Plus, he looks like a robot. Drunkards who dress like robots? Classic.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 5 May 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Preacher.

And I don't remember the character's name, but "Y: The Last Man on Earth" would make a pretty kickin' movie. Everything with a Y chromosome on the planet dies.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Monday, 5 May 2003 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

John Constantine. Someone said Nick Cage was going to play him... the rumor mill cranks on. That would be truly horrible.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Monday, 5 May 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

The current Ultimates title would be great, but I guess there are characters to be licensed separately there. I'd like to see an epic series of movies based on Kirby's Fourth World, but everyone would say it was ripping off Star Wars - "Darkseid is his dad! That guy's called 'Mark Moonwalker'! The Source! Lucas should sue!"

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 5 May 2003 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

there's already (or maybe past tense should be used???) a cartoon about a drunk robot

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 5 May 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

A Bender movie would be great as well. Maybe he could team up with Iron Man for a pirate movie, that would be fantastic.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 5 May 2003 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

another stifled breathing "I am you father" moment.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 5 May 2003 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

this one wouldn't even need that much of a SFX budget:
http://www.doasales.com/images/art/grell_lbow_sm.jpg

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 5 May 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I would see movies about any of the following:

Xero
Deadpool
DP 7
Psi-Force
The Titans
Thunderbolts
Blood Syndicate
Static
Hardware
Icon
Stormwatch
DV8

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 5 May 2003 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the Authority - 6 excellent characters out of 7.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 5 May 2003 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

GHOST RIDER, you fools!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 5 May 2003 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

just cuz they cancelled the TV show, doesn't mean they can't do a movie:

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Monday, 5 May 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Ghostrider is in production.

West Coast Avengers!!!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 5 May 2003 19:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Sandman and Death (Wizard did a real good fantasy cast of this years ago)

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Monday, 5 May 2003 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Personally I am holding out for a Deadman movie.

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 5 May 2003 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.geocities.com/wintermute_v031/samnmax.txt

Two computer games and a TV series isn't nearly enough.

Frühlingsmute (Wintermute), Monday, 5 May 2003 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Blade of the Immortal's Manji. Because immortal swordsmen have never been done justice on screen.

Queen & Country. The most realistic spy thrillas that I've read/seen (admittedly, read/seen little of any).

Leee (Leee), Monday, 5 May 2003 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

fritz you are my hero!!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 5 May 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

if they can do freddy vs. jason, why not a namor vs. aquaman?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 5 May 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Fruhlingsmute nails it, I think. I also think it's sorta fun how Nicole is being a major comix fiend one day at a time. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 5 May 2003 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Marvel's 60s Captain Marvel:
http://www.bowendesigns.com/Images/ Capt_Marvel_60s_Bust.jpg

Or even the 70s Captain Marvel:
http://www.bestcomics.com/pics2001/Capt_Marvel_70s_Bust.jpg

But, not DC's "Captain Marvel" (aka Shazaam)...

Also, DR. STRANGE, who rules:
http://www.cardsncomics.at/figuren/images/docstra.jpg

AND MIRACLE MAN, who ripped people's guts apart!
http://www.kingdomcomix.com/Comics/MiracleMan2.gif

Scaredy Cat, Monday, 5 May 2003 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

"What Comic Book Characters Who Should Have Their Own Movies?"
"Chicken boobies!"

Leee (Leee), Monday, 5 May 2003 20:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Iron Man, because he is a boozehound. Or at least the Twisted Toyfare Theatre version of Iron Man.

He was in the comic too, which makes the TTT parody even more cruel (and kickarse)

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Monday, 5 May 2003 20:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Another vote here for Dr. Strange.

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Monday, 5 May 2003 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok now my full-on 12-year-old comic geek is bustin' out, but what if there was a Warlock movie? With Thanatos, his arch-rival, an' shit? Oh man.

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 5 May 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck the West Coast - Great Lakes Avengers!

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 5 May 2003 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I always thought they should take the Legion of Superheroes' Bouncing Boy and set his adventures in the present day. His power is pretty self-evident. Goldberg from the Mighty Ducks could play him.

http://superman.ws/superboy-lives/tomorrows-lesson/whoswho/bouncingboy.gif

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 5 May 2003 22:06 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.cale.com/images/flaming_carrot.jpg

The rest of these answers suck.

Millar (Millar), Monday, 5 May 2003 23:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I should qualify that: in comparison

Millar (Millar), Monday, 5 May 2003 23:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Even better idea... A movie version of the Reid Fleming / Flaming Carrot crossover

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 00:17 (twenty-two years ago)

cat and girl

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 00:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Horace is OTM re the Tick.

Frühlingsmute: That bunny isn't based on the one from James McNew's band Dump, is it? (Oh, and I'd like to see a movie based on that bunny.)

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 00:40 (twenty-two years ago)

American Flagg could be a great movie.

earlnash, Tuesday, 6 May 2003 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Whats with all the old superhero comix?

I'd love to see David Boring as a movie, seeing as Ghost World worked well:

http://www.pastis.org/jade/ete02/tvboringLoupe.jpg

Also, this would be a fantastic movie - animated or real-life:

http://www.negafox.com/ifeelsick/devi1.jpg

I heart Devi... she's my hero.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 03:29 (twenty-two years ago)

a Madman movie would totally rock!!:

http://www.ultrazine.org/ultraparole/Allred/madman.jpg

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 03:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually I've read that a Madman movie is in the works. Rah!

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 04:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Beanworld.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 07:03 (twenty-two years ago)

there's a Hellblazer film a-coming, only they're calling it Constantine.

Great leading actor, dude: http://us.imdb.com/Title?0360486

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 08:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Jonah Hex
Apparently there was a TV movie in pre-production in 2000 but it was scrapped, thank goodness.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

That bunny isn't based on the one from James McNew's band Dump, is it?

http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov200/drf700/f792/f79250cr6v8.jpg http://www.geocities.com/wintermute_v031/max.txt

I see what you mean, but no. Max would never wear a suit.

Frühlingsmute (Wintermute), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

how about a film of "Darkie's Mob"?

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Re: Flaming Carrot picture

I'd love to see a movie starring that notorious cartoon character Christopher Walken.

Otherwise, Green Lantern! Duh.

Or Groo.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Holy crap why the hell isn't COLIN FARRELL in that Hellblazer flick you fucking Hollywood sucknuts.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

How about a film of Joe Matt's the Poor Bastard?

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 15:52 (twenty-two years ago)

http://cagle.slate.msn.com/news/tmcm/BestofTMCM/much.gif

I would love a Too Much Coffee Man movie if it was done by the creator of the comic. But who would play TMCM?

The Man they call Dan (The Man they call Dan), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Jack Black?

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Also: how about making a Watchmen-type movie w/ the Charlton characters that Moore used as the basis / inspiration for the Watchmen characters? Yeah! AND they can throw in Booster Gold, too!

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Kenan = OTM. A flick with The Preacher would destroy all other comic book character movies.

cprek (cprek), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.eskimo.com/~tegan/aqua/pics/else/WorldsFunnest.jpg

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 17:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Absolutely, Cloak and Dagger.

http://ffmedia.ign.com/filmforce/image/cloak_dagger1.jpg

They were always my favorites, which set me up for a lifetime of digging stuff that was different/weird enough to fail commercially and stay unknown to almost everybody I know.

(NOTE: In looking for that pic I found out that someone actually WAS working on a movie project for this, which astounds me.)

Chris Dahlen (Chris Dahlen), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Barry Ween, Boy Genius.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Very Vicky

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 00:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Minimum Wage -- Bob Fingerman's a genius.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 00:10 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.jimwoodring.com/galleryimages/harvest.jpg

How surreal would Frank the movie be? I think i'd need some mushrooms to watch it

The Man they call Dan (The Man they call Dan), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 01:35 (twenty-two years ago)

The last four posts have been ridiculously OTM.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 08:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Corto Maltese finally got his own animated feature film, and it's pretty cool. See the IMDb page (the official page seems to down): http://us.imdb.com/Title?0259134 . If you scroll down, you can also read my review of the film.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Keanu Reeves canNOT play John Constantine! That's horrid! It bothers me enough that he was originally designed to look like Sting, but this is even worse. Let the robot who did Howard the Duck play him, and it will have the same effect.

Someone like David Thewlis circa "Naked" would be more appropriate, not that poor cipher.

used to think some of the Grendel story arcs, like Eppy versus Pope Pius, would be good movies, but i don't know now. Lost taste for that.

badgerminor (badgerminor), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 22:39 (twenty-two years ago)

The Strokes

Kris (aqueduct), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

100 Bullets: The Movie

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 23:22 (twenty-two years ago)

BTW, there's supposedly a Preacher movie in development w/ James Mardsen (X-Men's Cyclops) as Jesse Custer. Dunno about this casting choice either, but Kevin Smith is Executive Producer, which could be a good thing (except that those DD & Spidey mini-series will NEVER get finished).

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 23:35 (twenty-two years ago)

TRANSMETROPOLITAN: THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Seconded. With Momus as Spider Jerusalem.

Frühlingsmute (Wintermute), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Barry Ween, certainly. I think it would have to be animated, because I just can't see any kid actors pulling it off (especially if they keep the swearing and porn, AS THEY SHOULD).

I'm not sure I would trust a Dr Strange movie to avoid being either Schumacher campy or dark and grim and trying too hard to be an American Hellblazer. But if they could pull it off, aces. And it's one of the ones where you could do the origin story without the audience going, "Fuck, another origin story? We've seen like eleven of them lately."

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 23:44 (twenty-two years ago)

_Dr. Strange_ is the film I'd hire Ang Lee to direct instead of _Hulk_.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 8 May 2003 00:35 (twenty-two years ago)

And the guy who did the cinematography for Charlie's Angels and Titanic (I think he was the DP, actually, but whichever. Okay, sounds like an odd thing, but on the commentary for Charlie's Angels he talks a lot about setting up the use of color for each shot, and if we're talking Ditko Dr Strange here, that's the difference between a visually nice movie and a visually great movie).

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 8 May 2003 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)
