Wind Breaker more like, pffft.

So, the new Zelda. Smashing or WHAT? I love the sneaky expression on Link's face when he sidles and looks round the corner, and most of all I LOVE SAILING. Lots of reviews have said this bit gets dull, but frankly I was enjoying the slow pace when I got the "short cut" ability anyway. pah. Mm, sailing in the rain on the wild waves.

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got to the earth temple and the logistical puzzles are fun.

Am I the only one to detect a small element of RARE's games (specifically Banjo and banjo Tooie) in this new Zelda. Grunty's cauldrons and "being other characters". I like the stuff developed from Majora too -- postal system (WASTE), chuchus.

b-but where are the Boss Monster poses and subtitles? Where's an annoying Navi. Look at the fac e on the bottled fairies, boo hoo.

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Howard's Way: The Adventure Game!

I suppose I should buy a GameCube then.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Good god I might just have to go to GAME at lunchtime. Anyone know if Tower still has the cheap GC's?

Sod it, Alan can I come round to your house and watch you play Zelda please? I will bring pie!!

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

a-and the bonus disk is 60 Hz only. which my old telly can't do. bah.

As bad girls is on tomorrow night, I might be Zelda-ing some then. oh yes.

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah, you can't complain about Wind Waker stuff on your Zelda thread then come hang around here! It'll only make you want to go get one (which you SHOULD NOT do)!

I spend Monday wandering all over the gaff mapping everything apart from the bit that you can't (I didn't even cop that it's between the three islands that do nothing), and making lots of "come back here with fire arrow/hammer/bombs" notes.

I miss the N64 games' ability to lock on to something and be told what it is.

Agreed on the teleporting cauldrons. Smart!

What were the Chuchu's in Majora's Mask?

I basically just love all the optional stuff, like the big barrel ships that you can have a go at if you think you're hard enough. And the moving panels game on the Private Oasis, and the treasure charts, and the shooting at gun emplacements and and and...

When I received the Delivery bag and saw that it had gone from 1 item in Link's Awakening/Ocarina of Time(?) to 3 in Majora's Mask to 8 in Wind Waker, it touched something deep in my brain and made me squirm with joy. NB: this may not actually be healthy.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

chuchus were those watery things with hearts and magic potion in them in the main field. And how cool are TREASURE MAPS and PIRATES. loads, that's how

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I bought a magazine with the walk through! Hooray! I feel like playing more now (I need the safety net!). And when I find my sword, I'm gonna cut those guards up big time style.

My fave bit so far was catching the little piglets and selling them to that woman on Outset Island. Perhaps, I should get Animal Crossing.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that out for PAL gamers now? I thought it was still NTSC only grr...

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I dunno if Argos are still doing GC's for £80.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, I don't think Animal Crossing is coming out on pal, you can get that NTSC converter thing now, which local shop offers for half price when you buy the game, so that'd be like £60 still :(...However, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life sounds just as relaxing.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh yeah I've heard good stuff about that too.

The Argos catalogue isn't even *listing* Gamecubes!!!

According to my friend in the US, Animal Crossing is worth it...

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Finally, got meself a boat and a sail!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

OH you seafaring rogue. I'm about 5/9ths through as I said. I just entered the Wind Temple - it is k-hard.

Cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm on the Earth Temple but I am a bit bored with it. I lose interest in video games very quickly however. It is extremely pretty and sailing gives me a nice chance to go smoke a cigarette and feel as if I am accomplishing something at the same time.

adam (adam), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm fighting the first boss. I'm gonna mess 'em up big time stylee. But my hurts at the mo', so it'll have to wait 'til tomorrow.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 9 May 2003 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I've completed it! But it tricked me! Pah! So I saved the completed data over my game file! So now I have to start all over again if I want to use the items! The hammer! Or the bow! Grr!

Cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 11 May 2003 13:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Cor blimey! Did you take photos of all the characters?

I'm not playing this weekend.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 11 May 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

without giving out spoilers or looking for them myself, can someone tell me how much of the game I've done?

I have done the earth and wind temples and been sent looking for 8 fragments of you-know-what. I've got 8.

I reckon I'm about 70% done?

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

(I mean i've got 4 of the 8)

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

ALAN can I come round and watch you play please please???

Er hold on but I cannot do any time this week, oops.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you're pretty much done. Last 4, introduce whatisface to Mr. Pointy, off into the sunset.

There are a lot of things that don't involve dungeons. If you didn't do anything optional, you'd probably only have eight hearts at the end.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

oh no. ah well, it looked nice.

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah the Triforce is just about the last thing you get. I thought the game was extremely well done, but found sailing and fishing a little tedious and thought there weren't enough dungeons. The animation style did eventually grow on me which was nice (Link's expression when someone outbids him in the auction house sold me)

Vinnie (vprabhu), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm still in the very first dungeon.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Does it come with some free disc of an unreleased Zelda game for the Nintendo DD or something?

ss, Tuesday, 13 May 2003 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

it comes with a (60HZ only!!) version of ocarina and a "remix" of ocarina, which is basically the same game with some stuff moved around, but no basic new ideas or puzzles.

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Alan, you've theoretically done about 70% of the quest but the next 30% (if you've not been collecting maps and stuff *shush shush*) is a real slog and probably as much work (and less fun, until the end) than the first 70%.

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

five months pass...
OH COME ON

David. (Cozen), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

*spliiiiiiiish*

*spliiiiiiiish*

KA-BEUM!!!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 12:26 (twenty-one years ago)

HURRAH! Bloody hell sailing doesn't half take a long time. I absolutely HATE the baddies that attack you whilst sailing and knock me out of the boat half the sodding time.

I'm now at the Temple of the Gods and larffing hysterically at the strange bouncing statues. It is a lot less forgiving with yr sword attacks than Ocarina, but everything else is a lot easier - ie if you miss a jump and fall into water, you can just hop back out again instead of it being DEATH WATER OF DEATH and you instantly black out.

The "battleships" game on er... what's that sodding island called with the rowdy gang of kids? Anyway that one is GRATE.

SPLIIIIIISH!

Ka-BOOM!

SPLIIIIISH!

ahahahaahahahhaa.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Bloody hell Wind Waker mind-meld or WOT!!

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

The Tower of the Gods was probably the "dungeon" that took the longest the first time I played it, and definitely the shortest the second time.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew I cannot think you enough for leaving your saved game on the island with the KA-BEUM! battleships game. I was dreading not being able to play it again until I finished that sodding dungeon.

I am totally playing this game with walkthroughs by the way. Only to help me get past bits I get stuck on and not for plot spoilers but I shall not feel GUILTY about those. I have stayed mostly walkthrough free from Ocarina. DAMN WHERE IS THE CARTRIDGE.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Starry, I really want to play Majora again. HURRY UP ;-)

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

:(

*scuffles feet*

(sorry)

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i mean, your best friend in the game is a TALKING BOAT, people!

Kingfish (Kingfish), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

okay, who else thinks that Tingle fuck deserves an axe in the face?

....

i do NOT have a problem with hostility, dammit.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Sunday, 2 November 2003 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I never got beyond the first boss, coz of my Gamecube breaking. I don't know if I want to play this game any further, I don't think I was meant to be much of a video games player.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 2 November 2003 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

oh you can't stop NOW... then the gamecube has WON, and we can't allow that!

Kingfish (Kingfish), Sunday, 2 November 2003 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

two months pass...
RIGHT WIND WAKER QUESTION: I've gathered something about the Nintendo gallery - is this just you taking loads of photos with your picto box? The thing is I can only store three photos, two of them are the photography geezers Legendary Pictos so er... how do I upgrade the storage? Have I understood everything correctly?

Sarah (starry), Friday, 23 January 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

nope. always three. even with the color camera, always three. Gamefaqs has a list of how to get the entire gallery.

Huggy Dork (Kingfish), Friday, 23 January 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

but why would you want to - that's what gets me.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 23 January 2004 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Well seeing as I'm just zipping round the map collecting the "you know whats" at the moment, I've probably missed out on loads of pictures anyway. The postal system as Alan says at the start of the thread is a bit of a non-starter. I've only ever done two things of use with it and it doesn't look like much else is going to happen.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 23 January 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

also, there's no way to complete the gallery the first time you play the game. you have to play again(with the camera from the beginning) to get everything.

Huggy Dork (Kingfish), Friday, 23 January 2004 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I have one "you know what" at the moment. But I want to go and save the Deku trees first of all except I hate those timed portions of the game, they R an utter chiz.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 23 January 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

The Deku sidequest is easy, I finished with 11 minutes left on the clock.

And if you want to complete the Nintendo Gallery you need the GBA link dealy to unlock a final character.

Leee Majors (Leee), Friday, 23 January 2004 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Also my still favorite Leester Link face is when you pull treasure out of the sea and he's all like woah! Treasure!

Leee Majors (Leee), Friday, 23 January 2004 23:14 (twenty-one years ago)

oh dear, I'm still at the first boss! (I have an excuse - no GC for 6 months, and then I got mario kart and FIFA 2004) (I have the walk through magazine)

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 24 January 2004 11:42 (twenty-one years ago)
