So fucking classic it hurts

Finishing school forever, so classic it hurts also. I keep thinking the evenings are very short for the summer and then remembering its September. I'm going out every night, its pretty class.

The one advantage of winters -- snow days, and never having to go in in the first place. :-)

classic!...but it depends what you do with the extra hour!!!!

LOVED that. From outside the school, straight on the bus downtown for 20 cents, beg perfume samples at Dayton's, peruse British and Japanese magazines in the newsstand, put a bunch of records into my hold bag, banter with clerks, transfer to Uptown, buy something for $4 at Ragstock, meet friends, go for Vietnamese eggrolls or Taco Bell, home before anyone noticed I'd been out.

VARIATION ON THEME: Teacher writes a pass allowing me to skip class with irritating colleague I know Teacher A dislikes. Heh heh. That was for the days when I actually bought something.

Getting home from school at regular time, spending four hours or so doing homework, and getting bitched at for being lazy because you don't have a job like your friends who work four hours and DON'T do their homework by yr teachers, yr friends and yr mother (all the people who go on and on about getting into good colleges) = utter, utter dud. And yes it hurts.

Four hours of homework, Maria that sucks! :(

Getting home from school early = dud because there's nothing on telly apart from Young Doctors.

Actually being home: classic. Enough time for Microwave Experiments, sibling hassling. Back in the day it was time for General Hospital, which I never watched but we had Brady Bunch or Bewitched. Therefore classic as well.

Now it means i was out by 1 , got the grocery shopping done and was home by 1:30 !

anthony, Monday, 10 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Microwave experiments? mwahahaha!

maria, Monday, 10 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

We had the Prototype Microwave on our block and each day I'd put something in there to cook that probably shouldn't have gone in. For instance, an egg in its shell. Any potentially exploding foodstuff, really. The challenge was of course to CLEAN IT UP before parent got home from work.

Oh, the joys of being a latchkey child.

Being a kid on a farm is even greater . Of course you have chores , but do you know how much mischeif you can get into on a quater section. Some of it had woods, there was a cliff near the river. Man, every summer there was at least one grass fire. Plus we got home alot because of bus shortages, or somebody needed help on the farm or something.

anthony, Monday, 10 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

We had a great big marsh, a creek, a municipal golf course and a lot of wild areas and vacant lots. Plus in our back garden, a tiny little cabin that was 100 years old (before our house was built, this was the guest house for the ex-farmhouse two lots up the street). I cannot believe the shit my sister got away with when my mum thought it would be a great idea to put a double bed out there so we could sleep outside in the summer if we wanted.

suzy, Monday, 10 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Kids should have more of that . This whole structured play time is dangerous for kids. What will thye remember making a tree house in the woods and playign with your sister in the marsh or being pushed to the umpteenth soccer game !

I dont like getting home early, it makes me feel squiggly and restless. Getting to school one hour early is better. You can do sock slides down the corridor.

When you have roomates == Classic. Living alone == Dud or at least not classic.

To think I really do miss those bunny rabbits I called roomates and its not even outta September.
