Have you ever called one of these? What did you say? Who's on the other end? A guy who is paid just to hear how well/badly truck drivers are driving?

Last time I checked, 1-800-EAT-SHIT wasn't actually connected!

yep. too many people call about you, you'll face 'disciplinary action'. I used to deliver auto parts in HS, and the trucks had a number to call. It sucks cuz they could've totally been in the wrong but it was always their word over yours.

But surely if you get enough of your friends to ring and say "I'm just calling to say how consistently smooth your truck driver's gear changes have been. Oh! Take a look at that parallel parking - masterful. Really - it's been a privilege to watch this man at work." then it will will all balance out?

He'd be made a king among truck drivers, with a red velour cab and everything...

Does anyone ever ring to say "Yeah, not bad"?

In the city where I grew up, 382 was a popular prefix, thus enabling me and my 13 yr old buddies to spend many pre-call display nights pranking FUC-KYOU and FUC-KOFF.
One call went as follows:
"Hello?"
"Uh, hi. Is this FUCK YOU?"
"No, this is FUCK OFF, sorry."
"Oh, then FUCK OFF man!"
click
Horrifyingly pubescent giggles for hours.

Josh (hstencil's friend) kept threatening to call on our return trip from Louisville. But then he would just call a friend I think.

Oops, there might be some like that. I remember at least one phone-in poll where the results ended with "and 1% don't knows". Some people deliberately phoned up to register that.
