I never would have found my way to several local joints without the help of bored friends - The Rapture (a cheapass dive on 175 that's got a ton of space and NOTHING going on beyond the occasionaly cover band, 100% sausage party), the Ram's Head (oh boy can I please hang out with a bunch of people from work?) which isn't so much a dive as a nice place crowded with complete imbeciles, and a bunch of joints in College Park or up in Baltimore that are FUCKING HORRID BEYOND BELIEF but we were there, somehow, and there was this terrible noise, and cheap booze, and somebody was having a bachelorette party (they always are). I hate those suburban party clubs with the generic everything and the guys in hawaiian shirts drinking corona and bud light. ARRRGH

i once went to a pretty horrible sports bar called el guapo cantina, for a friend's birthday. it was so loud and brightly lit and crowded that i left very early even though it was pouring rain outside.
