From the Dallas Morning News:

New Mexico Attorney General Patricia Madrid said it appeared her state had no authority to arrest the lawmakers if they show up there, despite being asked to do so by the Texas governor.

"Nevertheless, I have put out an all-points bulletin for law enforcement to be on the lookout for politicians in favor of health care for the needy and against tax cuts for the wealthy," said Ms. Madrid, a Democrat.

I'm getting phone calls with pre-recorded messages here in Austin telling me the name of the Holiday Inn they're staying at, urging me to call my rep and tear them a new asshole. Whatever... if I call them it's going to be to tell them that they are awesome.

They've got strategy, too... no true Texan can claim they're just taking a vacation, since they went to Oklahoma.

And Oklahoma City is planning then a hero's welcome, NPR reports. They're eating well tomorrow.

Just an FYI:

My cousin's one of the House members who departed Texas for Oklahoma. He's Carlos Uresti and he's one of the representatives for San Antonio.

Funnily enough, I think this is great and am actually rooting for these people. I feel like such a betrayer, but I think that I'm more of a Democrat for local politics and a Republican for national politics, if that makes any sense. For example, I support both Kay Bailey Hutchison *and* Mike Villarreal.

*feels weird all of a sudden*
