The Caddyshack of the Future

Surely everyone knows an old fogey who still quotes Caddyshack all the time, as if that were still the last word in cutting edge comedy. Actually, Fletch, Animal House, National Lampoon's Vacation, or the Blues Brothers will work equally well.

So anyway, what's the Caddyshack of the future? The one that you'll be referencing in front of your children while they quietly plot your death? I say Office Space, closely followed by the Big Lebowski. It hurts me to even think of this, because I love those movies, but a time will come when they are the nadir of hipness, and that even mentioning their names will make you sound like a clueless old grandpa/grandma.

Also: P.C.U.

If TV shows count, then the Simpsons will be it. The Simpsons are our generation's Beatles, you know.

Caddyshack *is* still the last word in cutting edge comedy.

This is funny. A new friend and I bonded last night over Caddyshack and Animal House. "DOODIE!" and "So I've got that going for me" and "Seven years of college down the drain" and all that. It's beautifully universal.

Kevin Smith movies came up, too. The Kevin Smith Boys Club is fun to be a member of.

In my household, it'll be Pee Wee's Big Adventure. I can't vouch for the rest of ya'all though.

If you play golf, you hear at least one Caddyshack line..per hole. Guilty.

"...we've got a piper down!..."

six years pass...

The Versus Channel is showing this right now. The fact that Cindy Morgan goes from this to Tron is a mindblower.
