today at the supermarket i felt like dancing. no reason, just an urge. i didnt do it though, instead i compromised by swirling the trolley about as my son sat in the 'kiddie seat' laughing at me.

why do we stifle nerdy imulses?

the 'supermarket-shoppers-delight' music ( muzak ) had nothing to do with this urge btw, i dont even recall what it was. probably something awful.

hehe, this morning I sang a Divine comedy song at the absolute top of my lungs whilst showering, it put me in an incredibly good mood which is still lasting.

I can't stifle my nerdy dancing impulses...I'm a rhythm slut, if there's any kind of beat at all, my ass will sway or my head will bob or somesuch. I've learned not to be embarassed by it, to just let it happen. I mean, shit, other people do far more embarassing stuff!

One of my co-workers and I were just now full on dancing in the hallway because winamp rotated back around to "got to give it up." There are very brief moments in time when I love working here.

There is no dancing here. :(

That Girl (thatgirl), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 17:11 (twenty-three years ago)

no dancing in my office either. ANd to be honest I doubt any people here have rhythm. Except me of course. But I am dancing at my desk to the Rapture. Im doing the robot.

At a law firm, DDG - they're fuckers sometimes, but hardly anyone is here and anyway, I've been here 900 years and I dare anyone to tell me I can't.

Currently I am chair-dancing to "More Bounce to the Ounce."

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 17:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Dammit, I'd dance but I fucked up my right foot somehow last night.

Back when I worked at the World Bank, I made a point of skipping down a hallway at least once a year. And then I once ride a bike down the hallway, but I'd been asked to do that.

classic: dancing and singing in the supermarket. dud: crying on the bus.

I wibble in my chair/bob my head/drum on the desk when I listen to music on my headphones at work all the time. Its irresistable when one is listening to funky house music, arrr dammit. I have to watch myself and not burst out singing or humming tho, as I forget I have headphones on and no one else can hear the music (and I'm sure they dont want to hear my retarded singing).

I am now a'feared that the next FAP somewhere will involve ILXers breaking out randomly into co-ordinated song and dance, a la Fame.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 15 May 2003 00:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I sang and danced at the last Toronto FAP - can't help you with that whole "co-ordinated" part though.

I'm having visions of Ned and Dan doing a sort of warped Fred'n'Ginger routine. Make it stop!

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 15 May 2003 00:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Jeez, Trayce, you say this like it's a bad thing!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 May 2003 00:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh its not bad, its just terribly distracting! I have WORK to do dammit! ;)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 15 May 2003 01:19 (twenty-three years ago)

(I would also like to see this in photoshop)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 15 May 2003 01:20 (twenty-three years ago)

its strange, i am usually quite happy to dance with my boy in public, to no music, but the whole 'supermarket thing' has made me realise i am way more self-conscious than i thought.
i used to dance at work, i dance at home, but the 'damning stares' of the local retirees here actually stumped my impulse to spring out and waltz.
