I miss Digi, Wednesday, 14 May 2003 08:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Does anyone have the slightest clue what this means?

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 08:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it about a bear?

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Biffo is writing scripts for Crossroads, isn't he? www.bubblegun.com keeps vaguely threatening to make a comeback. But not quite.

Alex in Rotherham (alexfack), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 08:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't know what this means either, but I miss Eric Cantona too.

James Ball (James Ball), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I spent around three hours a couple of weeks back just looking at old Digitisers on the net somewhere... it felt like around 2 minutes.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 08:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Does anybody remember when Darth Vader was caught naked and refused to come out and speak to us? It made me laugh more than Brasseye.

I miss Digi, Wednesday, 14 May 2003 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I personally preferred Scully's attempts to find a replacement partner for Mulder, including an evil talking crow, and a packet of biscuits with a the head of a Lego man stuck to the top.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

What about the Tinmans nuts?

gollywang (gollywang), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Biffo had the best job ever

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 11:06 (twenty-two years ago)

is this about teletext?

alix (alix), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know what you're all talking about but this is a beautiful thread.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The lack of Digi is like small piece of my heart is missing.

Sometimes I go to page 176 on 4 and only as its counting towards that once magical number do I remember, digi is gone, a solitary tear splashes onto my remote as my thumb instinctivley reaches for the reveal button.

Bring back Digi.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

the first rule of digitiser is: you do talk about digitiser but not about what it is/was?

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm getting withdrawal symptoms. I find myself reading Turner the Worm just for the comfort. In my estimation, Biffo is better than Chris Morris. He made me laugh more man.

gollywang (gollywang), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Explanation:

Digitiser was a computer games magazine on the electronic magazine system known as Teletext, transmitted across the UK on Channel 4. Following in the tradition of other UK computer games magazines such as Your Sinclair and Amiga Power, it had a house style that was extremely funny and often concentrated more on making you laugh than talking about games (a fact that reguarly angered dull people). It was incredibly odd and surreal and weird and all those adjectives, and was actually the most read computer games magazine in the UK, with some ridiculous viewer figure of 1 million or something. Despite that, it was frequently derided and ignored by the publishing industry as it was only Teletext and thus wasn't a proper magaine in their stupid eyes.

You can read past editions by going here.
