(It being Emma's Birthday Thread Week)

Which slebzine is best? Yes yes Heat OK but what about the unsubtly named NEW which confronts me at Smiths every morning, it seems to be particularly vengeful - this week it is a whole issue of celebrity deformities - "WEBBED FEET" screams the cover - whereas Heat still has a vague respect and Closer just looks boring.

i love the explosion in young sleb and slap mags. there are like 4 new ones in the newsy across the road. and ALL THE RIGHT SIZE, i.e. glamour/A5 ish.

I only read Heat. Ph34r my brand loyalty. Heat is reasonably vengeful, it is always eager to show me sleb cellulite / zits / bad hair days / sweaty pits.

Emma, Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes Emma but WEBBED FEET!!!!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

You know 'Closer' is pronounced 'Clo-zer'.

Like DUCKS?

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Closer looks rubbish. It's front page is too clustered and never has good slebs on the cover. Something about it looks like those tacky American magazines you see in America and Selfridges (oddly) that only contain romantic/tragic tales printed on strangely perplexing paper. I wd not buy it.

I have never heard of NEW.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Which sleb has webbed feet? I dunno.... I still prefer way Heat revels in the mundane, I mean most of its readers have cellulite / zits / bad hair days / sweaty pits.

Emma, Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:11 (twenty-two years ago)

seZame

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah, are you talking of the wonder that is THE PEOPLE'S FRIEND?

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I have no idea what is was called but I went through a fascination with one of those magazines last year involving cutting out my favourite bits and making a collage. The adverts were the best. I think there was one for a dollar bill with PRINCESS DI on it. Hold up!

That or I am confusing things but I don't think I am...

I think Gwynneth Paltrow probably has webbed feet. Oooh no, Debbie from Hollyoaks. Something about her screams "webbing".

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I will try and coax Isabel into buying a copy and report back tomorrow on the web-footed celebrity freak question.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Ashton Kutcher (sic? oh who cares) has webbed feet (maybe).
He is also a fundamentalist Christian who will try to convert any passing interviewer (true).

I still want to find out about the webbed feet though.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

All of them vs my will to live.

However, there WAS a very interesting thing on radio 4 about webbed toes and a genetic strain in Lincoln farmer stock or something. All signs point to Matt being part of this strain. I will be interested to see whether our kids will be webbies too or if it will skip another few generations as it seems to have done in M's family until now.

Haha that has nothing to do with slebs, sorry.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

*sob!*

Web footed people are feared and hated by humanity just because we're different, like the x-men!

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh I want to go and see the X-Men. LADY WEBSTRIKE!

But I will prob. end up not getting round to it coz I am rubbbbb...

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha with my cleft lip and Matt's webbed toes we are like the crappest X-Men evah! Dull mutations R us!

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

It is Rachel S Club Stevens that has webbed feet. I checked in Tesco's last night (no she doesn't work in Tescos now S Club have split). New magazine totally sucks. Also apparently Ewan McGregor has been slagging off Heat = all the more reason to buy it.

Emma: happy birthday thread?

Alan (Alan), Friday, 16 May 2003 08:04 (twenty-two years ago)

i heard a rumour that patrick duffy has webbed feet?

v.poor.

if gwyneth has webbed feet that will go nicely with the feather up her arse and the duck nose! dump chris martin - start dating daffy. although i am not sure if daffy was one of those cartoon characters who was actually meant to be gay. like bugs bunny.
