Are you satisfied with how it all turned out?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

nope. i was hoping for a guest appearance from myself. I would deliver deadly crotch kicking for all except for Grammy.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

and katie holmes is looking like droopy dog. her face is melting off.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

So, initially, I was happy that Joey and Pacey ended up together, because I always felt like she and Dawson just fed off each other's neuroses and seemed miserable. But then I thought, maybe Pacey needs someone who's more laid-back than Joey, who won't whine to him all the time. And then I thought, why does Joey have to end up with one of them, anyway? This is the same goddamn love triangle that's been going on for ten years: can't she suck it up, realize she's always have a soft spot for her high-school boyfriends, and then go back to NYC and get on with her life?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Pacey should have revealed his real identity. He's Jim o'Rourke in a prolonged vacation in rural america, goes back to NYC and orchestrates a pastoral with a full-blown Ennio Morricone's style orchestra...

francesco, Thursday, 15 May 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I missed the beginning. So I figured out this much: Pacey has a restaurant in Capeside, Dawson lives in Hollywood writing a TV shoe called the Creek. But questions: OK so Jen had a baby. With who and where did she live? Joey has been living in Paris and NY? Doing what? In that closing scene with her and Pacey they had a damn nice NY apartment. I mean, I guess she must be a stockbroker? And she was dating a writer. Well, la di dah.

I thought the last episode totally sucked. Though I think it was pretty fine acting from Jen. So Pacey's brother is really gay now. And the neat parallel of Joeys niece and Dawson's little sister. And Dawson's mom getting remarried. Too many tie-ups and none of them make sense.

They never properly explained why Joey and Pacey broke up in the first place and then all of a sudden they are in love again.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 15 May 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

And the worst part: the series ends with Dawson finally getting a meeting with Steven Seilberg aggggghhhhhhhhh!

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 15 May 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

it would have been fun if Dawson had a show called "The Greek" and all the characters had chest hair and gold chains.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 15 May 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I missed like the first 5 minutes. I don't know if Jen's baby was explained then, but if not, it wasn't explained at all. I was curious, too. Joey is a book editor, apparently. (Which is why she was able to quote the publication date of the Neruda poem, because all book editors know the bibliographical details of all books ever.)

I feel like Jen always got a raw deal on this show. As soon as she stepped into Capeside, she was saddled with that whole "wild child" reputation. Her relationship with Dawson tried to remedy that, but only really served to open his eyes to the wonders of Joey. So obviously the only possible course for her is to become a fag hag to Jack. And then die tragically. I mean, what the fuck? What's so great about Joey that she's worth fighting over? Jen always seemed cooler to me.

(Keep in mind I watched the first two seasons obsessively, and have only seen the rest sporadically. So maybe that's not totally accurate, but you get my drift.)

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 15 May 2003 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Also, the episode would've been a lot better if Dawson's dad had come back from the grave.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 15 May 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

as a greek guy with chest hair, gold chains and baklava as a present.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 15 May 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I viewed the whole episode through the lens of Rules of Attraction. I was just waiting for everyone to get down to desparate sex. My lunch partner told me that Jen explained her baby as "remember that guy who knocked me up and then left me".

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 15 May 2003 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahh, I still have to see that (RoA).

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 15 May 2003 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

No, no, you don't. But if you do, watch with the commentary on. Appararently it will make if more bearable.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 15 May 2003 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

"remember that guy who knocked me up and then left me"

Yikes. By the way, do you think it would be that easy for Jack to adopt Jen's daughter? The show makes it seem like she just willed the baby to him.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 15 May 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, he is her godfather after all.

I'm glad we're in agreement.

uh, that was weird.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 13 June 2005 19:52 (twenty years ago)

It was just two days ago I found myself reading snarky episode synopses of this show and remembering how much I hated loving this show for the first two seasons.

L'Histoire d'Eric H. (Eric H.), Monday, 13 June 2005 20:34 (twenty years ago)

The DVD of the finale has an extra 20 minutes or half hour of material. I wonder if it's old characters making cameos, or just another half hour of torturing Jen. The writers really had it in for her, didn't they?

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Monday, 13 June 2005 20:35 (twenty years ago)

Tom Cruise referred to this show as "Dawson Creek" the other day.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 13 June 2005 20:36 (twenty years ago)

secret negotiations with Cruise $scientology contacts at Warner Bros. are in order to officially remove the 's' from the title now.

Best Dawson's post ever. If Dawson had just told Joey to fuck off when she first dumped him and dated Jen for most of the remaining episodes, I would have been much better disposed towards the show.

I still haven't seen this episode, but Joey and Pacey were begging for "tragic" deaths since halfway through season 2.

This is way better than The OC in retrospect.

Joshua Jackson’s character in the Affair is basically grown-up Pacey. Don’t know how it didn’t strike me sooner.

Mule, Tuesday, 1 May 2018 11:34 (seven years ago)

my wife has been rescreening dawson's creek recently and jesus god it is painful to watch - horrible dialogue, and so much of it, no-one ever fucking shuts up and they all sound the same

i remember the first couple of seasons of the oc being really good teen ensemble drama but i suspect the misadventures of filthy-rich, lily-white teens might not be quite so compelling in the 2k18

Dawson's Creek fans, I'm thrilled to announce that — at long last — you will hear Paula Cole's iconic song I Don't Want to Wait when you watch the opening credits! pic.twitter.com/quRggJQvn4
