This is the thread where all the neutrals tell me that they will be supporting Southampton tomorrow

Absolutely, hence tbe simultaneous thread.

Personally I hope the Saints win 1-0 against the run of play with the help of a dodgy offside decision.

my fiver is going on 2-1 with matt svensson scoring first, header from a corner.

chris (chris), Friday, 16 May 2003 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a feeling in my waters for Southampton.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 16 May 2003 08:17 (twenty-two years ago)

can anyone investigate the odds on my little wager?

I do this every year, get a feeling in my bones, change the bet at the last minute (or worst get to the bookies at 15.02) and then the original hunch comes in. So this time I am sticking with this.

chris (chris), Friday, 16 May 2003 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris, £1 on 2-1 Southampton win (16/1) and Michael Svensson first goalscorer (33/1) gets you £577! Do it!

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 16 May 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I might just do that, too.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Friday, 16 May 2003 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I blooming well will!

chris (chris), Friday, 16 May 2003 12:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Mind you, a pound on Southampton winning 6-2 after being behind at half-time, despite taking the lead through Lundekvam around the 41st minute, completing the scoring with Bridge in a match with less than ten corners gets you £703million.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 16 May 2003 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

If that happens Jonesy'll be gutted.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 16 May 2003 12:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm still smarting from my multi-million loss on the Boat Race, Tim.

Who knew there'd be thirty-six spectators on Barnes Bridge with digital watches and a taped copy of Automatic For The People?

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 16 May 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I tipped Southampton for the cup this year months ago. Didn't put any money on it back when the odds would have been worthwhile. Realistically, Arsenal are firm favourites to win, but I'll stick with my tip in supporting terms.

ten years pass...

the lj derby of southampton/swansea is fairly dreadful

no silkworms or gaston ramirezes but a lot of aimless long balls and four yard second touches from the wanyamas of jonjo shelvies of this world

they always let you down in the end
