Taking Sides: Greasers vs. Socs

Greasers! All the way. That whole Madras shirt thing that the Socs have going is just too repulsive. And leather smells better, too.

Don't know about the Greaser females - wasn't Dallas in bed with one of them when Ponyboy and Johnnie go to get him after the incident?

Clearly Greasers and Socs are a Niven-esque race in which the difference in genders is pronounced; Greasers are male, Socs are female, except for the third gender -- the so-called "Soc male" -- which exists as part of evolution's elaborate mating ritual. The role of the Soc male is to drive the Soc female into the Greaser male's arms, by means of belittement, dissatisfaction, and whatever else is necessary; the occasional ritualistic battles between "Soc males" and Greasers serve to cull the herd and insure the strength of the gene pool.

Man, now I have a whole Emilio Estevez fantasy thing going. Don't tell me I need to watch this damn movie again! (My copy of the book fell apart several years ago and is now bound together by duct tape and paperclips and such.)

shoot greasers are prbably the best people ever produced, even though i am 1 myself, and when theres a fight between the rich kids and us , the rich kids never show up!!

OK, I know I wasn't here when the whole topic was brought up, but personally I think we are all prone to lean towards the Greaser side. Why? Do to the fact that in S.E. Hinton's novel, as well as the movie, 'The Outsiders" we're shown the Greaser's side of the tracks so to say. The life of Ponyboy, his brothers, friends and commrades is what is mainly disscussed. Though most greasers didn't had the luxury the Socs did they didn't have it easy either. My dad (After watching 'The Outsiders' with me) told me that when he was a youth he (using S.E. Hinton termonalogy) was a Soc. Yes, his parents were upper middle class and drove fancy cars, wore fancy clothes, and owned the big house, things weren't to great for him. He quit school and worked at a carpeting place and said continually he'd get jumped on his way home. Anyroad that's just something for ya'll to chew on.
