Formula 1 drivers: POO

Of all time, not just from the dull-ish present.

Me - avoiding the hard-to-argue-with truth that Senna was the best ever, I go for Keke Rosberg. He never seemed to have the best car, and won the title in a poxy V8-powered Williams in a year when he was blown away on every straight by the turbos. The following year, when skirts were banned (on the cars that is - I'm sure Prost looked lovely in one), he slid around magnificently to wring every last drop from his machine.

So .. over to you.

And also, while we are at it, any hated drivers to POO ?

Colin Meeder (Mert), Sunday, 18 May 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

His autobiography was the first boook I ever read with swearing in it. Therefore he is a bad man.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Sunday, 18 May 2003 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

POO INDEED!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Sunday, 18 May 2003 09:42 (twenty-two years ago)

search: Jose-Manuel Fangio (the Senna of the 60s)

destroy: Michael Schumacher (like Pete Sampras, squeezes the excitement out of it all by being just too bloody good)

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 18 May 2003 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck the Schumacher haterz... even though I'd take Senna over Schuey.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 18 May 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

no James Hunt?

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 18 May 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Didier Pironi seconded. Also Elio De Angelis.

Mark C (Mark C), Monday, 19 May 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course it's Schumacher.

Alex K (Alex K), Monday, 19 May 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrea de Cesaris as the most useless but long lasting.

chris (chris), Monday, 19 May 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw Fangio in real life. He did a few laps of honour round Donnington Park. Sadly I was too young to appreciate it.

Remaining calm when on fire - conclusive proof that Schumacher is a robot.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 19 May 2003 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

three years pass...
Is anyone not sick of Michael Schumacher?

DAVE, for #1 Hits of yesterday and today! (dave225.3), Monday, 3 July 2006 17:13 (nineteen years ago)

Yes. I am not sick of him, primarily because he has failed to be washed up this season as everyone planned him to be, including Ferrari ("hey, let's get the Finnish kid in or the motorcycle guy -- it can't be US that's the problem, right?")

Colin Meeder (Mert), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 06:39 (nineteen years ago)

I was sick of Michael Schumacher YEARS AGO.
