No, read the bio. Cyndi Lauper has gone insane.

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 19 May 2003 06:23 (twenty-two years ago)

is she yellow?

anthony easton (anthony), Monday, 19 May 2003 06:24 (twenty-two years ago)

She is curious, yellow.

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 19 May 2003 06:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Like she wasn't insane before?

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 19 May 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

straight people - please take her back

j0e (j0e), Monday, 19 May 2003 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

What the hell? Is she listening to too much coldplay?

teeny (teeny), Monday, 19 May 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Is this an exercise in semiotics?

teeny (teeny), Monday, 19 May 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

what the feck? SOuds like she loves pee or something.

Mike Hanle y (mike), Monday, 19 May 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

"Rosie O'Donnell: Piss-Fiend". That's got a certain ring to it.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 19 May 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

You know what the true significance of the color "yellow" is, don't you?

That's right -- the zesty flavor of mustard. ;)

Dee the Semi-Lurker (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 19 May 2003 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Who moved my yello?

Aaron W (Aaron W), Monday, 19 May 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Truly Miss O'Donnel is in a league of her own.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 19 May 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, that's bizarre. One of yellow's major associations is cowardice, which is the polar opposite of what she seems to mean by her use of the word.

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 00:10 (twenty-two years ago)

anything that gives Cyndi Lauper work is ipso facto good, that first song on Hat Full of Stars was completely brilliant

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 00:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe Rosie is a Coldplay fan? She seems the type.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 00:23 (twenty-two years ago)

This weekend while I was waiting on grossman at the Metro station I saw this Eckankar one-sheet next to a box full of old ANSWER protest pamphlets. When I read this Rosie thing that's all I could think of. Does she realize that Michael Moore is a member of the NRA? Did she watch the movie? WTF. Somebody pick this woman for a running mate. Total Classic.

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)

What the HELL is up with that painting?

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 20 May 2003 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

*finally reads it* All I can think of it Charlotte Gilman's "The Yellow Wallpaper" for some reason.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 00:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Millar, you're being funny, right? WHY is Michael Moore a member of the NRA? Huh? Did *you* watch the movie?

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Millar is perfectly serious here. In the film Moore presents himself as having grown up in a rural part of Michigan where guns were a part of the local culture. Moore's target in the movie is the almost fetishistic culture that has since grown up around guns and warfare.

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

three weeks pass...
Let's make fun of her terrible artwork.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 13:35 (twenty-two years ago)

You really feel sorry for the canvases in these situations.

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Jackson Polyp!

If those paintings were anything to go by then her essay is probably her thoughts at their most restrained and least batshit, which is kind of scary.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
Rosie has a blog:

This journal is absolutely fascinating. Nothing like what I would expect from Rosie O'Donnell. I find myself wanting to break away so I can catch up more with ILX, but... nope, can't. It feels slightly overvoyeuristic, too, like I'm standing on a hill near her neighborhood with a high-powered telescope aimed right at her house and its windows -- or something like that -- and looking in at what she's doing. So much of what has been posted therein seems so closely tied to her inner self that I fear I might very well feel like I need to take a shower to get rid of the uncleanliness. Anyway. I see she's still got her thing with the color yellow, though. And it's been a surprising bit of amusement to me that I actually posted that "You know what the true significance of the color 'yellow' is, don't you? That's right -- the zesty flavor of mustard. ;)" thing upthread. Wow.

(i.e. Thanks for reviving this thread, jaymc.)
