so says woody allen in "Manhattan".

a strange thing for such a seemingly cerebral man to say. but i think he means that he is it surprises him how little control it exerts over itself, his body and his destiny.

maybe?

Damn right you'd be amazed at the level to which the endocrine system affects how you feel

cerebral?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 19 May 2003 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

is my spelling awry?
where's the damn spell check on this computer? or do you mean woody allen not cerebral? either he namechecks a lot of authors he has never read it his work or the man is reasonably well educated in my opinion.

Anyway, it is a bit of materialistic viewpoint but imagine how different we would all be without hormones to drive us round the place.

how much does getting the snip effect you for instance? i dont know anyone with a vasectomy but do they sleep a lot like cats?

arthur woodlouse (arthur woodlouse), Monday, 19 May 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I think cats just sleep a lot because they're extremely lazy.

Cats which haven't been vasectomised or castrated sleep a lot, too.

I had a vasectomy. It doesn't affect your hormones.

That's true, I should have remembered that. I read somewhere about a project to reduce the number of stray and/or unwanted cats by capturing the alpha male stray in an area, giving him a vasectomy and releasing him again. He'd be sterile just as if he'd been castrated, but because he'd still have his testicles he'd still be behaving just as before; if he was castrated another cat would take over and the feline pregnancy rate would stay just the same.
