ilx usage

How many threads do you post to in a day? What sort of time gap is there typically between "sessions"? By session I mean you actively reading/posting in one go, then you go off to do something else, or go to another site, before coming back and having another go.

With me right now, I post to maybe 2 threads a day, with a gap of about 4 hours between sessions, but it can go up to about a day. I used to post to a couple of dozen with a gap of 20-40 mins.

these days it's a way to waste time @ work and before bed as well, tho i've found that it REALLY doesn't help w/the sleeping because i almost always get jolted into alert hyperthink (my posts to the contrary, ha a)

I'll let you know when I sign off.

Hmmm, the gap is usally 20 hours these days. I don't use ILX at all at work, and have no intention of doing so again. I guess I still post around 15-20 messages a day. Though, ILX is daunting when you've been away for a day.

sessions are mostly round bedtime. it's the first thing i do when i get up in the morning. a lot of threads are too us/uk related, so
there are 2 or 3 threads i contribute to. i don't start many threads anymore. and i don't ilx at work at weekdays.

Unemployed, so pretty much all the time. Maybe I post on 15 or so threads a day, and start maybe 1 a week.

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I just started two threads, something I've never done in one day before. I spend way too much time on here during the day, but I don't normally post much. I usually try to avoid being made fun of if I can!

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I mostly post at work, where I am feeling increasingly bored and useless. So I am on ilx on and off through that 8 hour time period. I probably post to about 15-20 threads or so in an average day.

At the same time, my interest in ilx has decreased. If I wasn't at my current job (and I may not be for much longer), I probably wouldn't post much if it all.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

why has your i nterest in ilx decreased? nicole?
(uo don't have to answer this i'm just curious )

Erik, Tuesday, 20 May 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I post quite a lot - to 20 threads a day, at a guess. I log on about three lunchtimes a week, then every weekday when I'm not out at about 6, and spend mayeb three hours online, mostly on ILX, through the evening, one big batch early to catch up, then bits.

I really don't have a good answer for this...just a combination of things I guess. There's no one reason I can pin down to explain it.

I always do my ilXing Monday-Wednesday at work, I work a three day 12.5 hour through-the-night shift at a local paper. At other times there's no real pattern but I will normally look at least once every two days if I'm on the internet.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

ILE is the office past-time par excellence or a way to keep in a loop if unemployed. However, my internet has been cut off at work due to browsing sites like this (the filter doesn't like it) and I'm getting too bashful to ask for re-connection (and, anyway, what's the point with that pesky filter?), which leaves me with lazy mornings like this and, even then, my freeserve connection crashes my computer (maybe?) all the time at home. So I post, say, once every few months...

Gordon (Gordon), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 07:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I find I can now go whole days without posting on ilx, which certainly wasn't the case six months ago. I prolly ask a question abt once a fortnight now if that. I'm ashamed of myself. I need to post more. I blame my big workload.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I keep a window open all day at work and refresh when bored - if there's a thread I'm keen on then that might be every 10-20 minutes. But I don't miss it when I'm not posting. No posting at home. Maybe 5-10 threads daily across both main boards.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 09:16 (twenty-two years ago)

no posting at home = you have a life ;) i actually work from home most of the time at the mo but still don't have a life...

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 09:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I am horrible at guessing, so let's see....
The Users page says I've posted 606 messages in the past 30 days. (enter jeopardy theme music) Yes, a little over 20 messages a day. But if you consider that I only post Monday thru Friday... That's more like 29 posts per day of actual posting. Fascinating stuff, I tells ya!

I post more when the boss is away and when I'm not horribly busy. Though sometimes I get on here to complain when I am horribly busy and to relieve a little stress. Some days I have to go out to more properties so I'm away from the computer. Then - just after one day (or after a weekend) - I feel totally out of the loop on ILXland.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Apparently, I start more threads than pretty much any other regualr poster...

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I go through periods of mad posting and reading, where I'm on-line and at the site for hours at a time, usually morning and evenings.

But mostly I am off lurking and only come to the site every couple of days to read - I don't comment unless I'm feeling particularly social or flirtatious or witty or bright.

But I can get quite addicted to this group far too easily, so I have been limiting my time spent here and working on spending more time reading and being with friends and such.
