Now come on, coffee's much better than tea, isn't it?

Tea can make you perky, though.

Judge Mentalist (Judge Mentalist), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 20:39 (twenty-two years ago)

So can a cool breeze or a stout-hearted woman. What's yr point?

jm (jtm), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe what is meant is perky in the nippley term?

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Depending on your gender, natch.

Unless you lez it up, etc.

jm (jtm), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Or if you are a mannequin, they all have nipples now.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 20:50 (twenty-two years ago)

No kidding. How about those ones on 8th st? Talk about fake tits...

jm (jtm), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 20:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Skip the coffee and the tea - give me coke.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Is PG really the best British tea. Nice boy at ASAB made it sound like he was doing me a favor when he gave it to me.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 21:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, I take offense to the fake tits comments.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Mary, PG Tips is one of the interchangeable mass market brands. It used to advertise itself with chimps before they became fashionable. There are far subtler, better(?) teas avaiable in Britain. Whatever you fucking want. Tea is much better than coffee when you feel gacky. I often feel gacky.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 22:44 (twenty-two years ago)

haha.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 22:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I like Yorkshire Gold as far as mass-market tea brands go, others may disagree, to which one can only shrug

Matt (Matt), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 22:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i like twinings old english. i make it at home on weekends. in the office i am all about one cup of coffee in the morning. it used to be 5,6 six cups all day long. tea has to be better for your stomach.

kephm, Wednesday, 21 May 2003 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

twinings breakfast blend is your friend here

Matt (Matt), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I like sitting on my boyfriend's knee.

estela, Wednesday, 21 May 2003 23:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, that's good too.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 23:13 (twenty-two years ago)

ke[hm, Wednesday, 21 May 2003 23:17 (twenty-two years ago)

standing in corner...suspicously polite...>

kephm, Wednesday, 21 May 2003 23:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah perhaps PG is a downmarket tea, in keeping with the laddish aspirations of ASAB?

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 22 May 2003 04:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Imagine Bruce Sprinsteen puttign his mouth around your nipples. unng. I dont know if I'd like him to do that . He should stick to rock and roll.

Mike Hanle y (mike), Thursday, 22 May 2003 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Was the thread I started so repulsive that there needed to be a new one about exactly -- not approximately, EXACTLY -- the same thing? Not to whine, but I'm hurt.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 22 May 2003 05:11 (twenty-two years ago)

let's see ... a choice of (a) grinding some nuts, putting the right amount into a strainer, waiting for an eternity for the shit to boil, and hoping it doesn't taste like Quaker State motor oil; or (b) putting some water to boil over the stove or in the microwave, and then plopping a bag into it after it's boiling. i know which drink i'm going to pick, at least when i'm home.

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 22 May 2003 05:12 (twenty-two years ago)

You're just bad at making coffee, it sounds like.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 22 May 2003 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Boil? Strainer? What are you, in Mexico? They have machines that do all that stuff nowadays.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 22 May 2003 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe if he had to shred and dry his own tea leaves it might be a different story

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 22 May 2003 05:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I love making coffee! It'd be annoying(er) if I had to grind it myself (as them grindy machines are so noisy) but if you have lovely fresh grind from the local coffee store, its all good. There's something soothing about my morning ritual of cleaning out my espresso machine (one of those stovetop screw-together jobbies), filling it with water and coffee, and then popping it on the stove and boiling it up. That *gurrrgglle* noise is part of my morning!

Plonking a teabag into a cup isn't quite the same. But making leaf tea in a pot is. Its all in the ritual.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 22 May 2003 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Clipper, (not the organic one), is my brew of choice for soft water. For Hard I like Sainsbusry's Assam.

I love coffee and tea in equal measure. Its much easier to get a good cup of tea in britain though (It's almost impossible to get a good cup of coffee most places, USA included).

Ed (dali), Thursday, 22 May 2003 06:43 (twenty-two years ago)

We're spoilt for good coffee in Melbourne. I went to England and was really horrified that many places I'd go and ask for a coffee I'd get a cup of goddamn Nescafe! Went to a mall somewhere (not London obv) that did have an espresso machine, asked for a short black and got told "now you do know these come in little tiny cups don't you?" I tried really hard not to laugh.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 22 May 2003 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I have bought a coffee that's low on taste but high on caffeine (or at least it is when I put a much greater measure in to make it taste of something. As a result at about 1pm and 5pm each day I get shaky, twitchy, hot flushes and weakness. And I still look forward to the next cup.

Tea's okay. It makes quite a nice change. I bought Sarah some tea with rose in it that was really nice.

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 22 May 2003 11:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I think tea is so much better than coffee. Coffee always makes peoples breath smell all nasty, and tea, well I don't think it does that. I don't even know why someone would ask this question, the answer is too obvious.

maddy long legs, Thursday, 22 May 2003 12:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't believe ILX is so full of tea lovers/coffee haters. Very disappointing.

(btw Kenan, there was nowt wrong with your thread.)

James Ball (James Ball), Thursday, 22 May 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Coffee all the way. Tea = twee.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 22 May 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Like you're so tough.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 23 May 2003 02:13 (twenty-two years ago)

what's with all these coffee threads popping up lately? have they started playing those "coffee achiever" ads with david bowie and kurt vonnegut again?

Tad (llamasfur), Friday, 23 May 2003 02:17 (twenty-two years ago)

actually, that's a bit of early-eighties pop culture i wouldn't mind seeing revived -- esp. the commercials with david bowie when he was in his full-blown "blonde-hair explosion" mode (thankee and full credit to mr. hanle y for the quoted phrase).

Tad (llamasfur), Friday, 23 May 2003 02:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I love coffe, it's just almost impossible to get a decent cup in England unless I make it myself.

Ed (dali), Friday, 23 May 2003 06:30 (twenty-two years ago)

The same goes for NYC in my experience.
