"Undeliverable mail"

The virus makers have a new brilliant tactic. Have the e-mail say "Undeliverable mail" from Mailer-Daemon. Then you open it and it says "Details in attached." I almost opened the bastard. Don't open attachments, yadda, yadda, I know the rules. But what if my mail is lost? How will I know if I don't open... this... attachment... can't... resist... temptation! Okay, I did resist the temptation. But whatever's in the attachment is going to spread like wildfire.

What was the file extension of the attachment?

If it was really undeliverable mail it would surely have details of who it was trying to deliver to in the body of the email?

Cue Ed with message in six-foot-high font.

That's it, I'm beheading you all.

WHy don't you behead some virus makers for a change?

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 22 May 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Because they don't open their attachments, duh.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 22 May 2003 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

What was the file extension of the attachment?

The old familiar .pif.

Ally, your policies are tyrannical.

Vive la revolution!

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 22 May 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Are they, Kenan? Are they really? Or are they just natural selection?

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 22 May 2003 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Well yeah, there's no way I'm opening one of those.

btw. when Nathalie's website got hacked, the one that took its place apparently infected the computers of the people who visited it in some way and someone I know's laptop then buggered up some node of the interweb and he got a call from British Telecom cause it was causing a nationwide crisis or something. Did this happen with anyone else and what kind of foul website can do such a thing and what settings should one change / patches download to stop it happening again?
