i've just reaquainted myself with the nutty shenanigans of Rodrequez and Tarantino and am still buzzing.

just love that line "Are you a mean mother fucking servant of God?"

surely this is a classic!

Why yes it is.

Best Road movie _and_ best vampire film simultaneously.

B-b-but what about Near Dark?

Frühlingsmute (Wintermute), Friday, 23 May 2003 11:08 (twenty-two years ago)

spoiling the twist in From Dusk Til Dawn is BAD.

I used to put the pussy speech on mixed tapes for people until I received one too many complaints.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 23 May 2003 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

my mother loves that speech.

This movie convinced me of the greatness of Harvey Keitel, since I saw this and Smoke in the same week. Whatta range!

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 23 May 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

No, it isn't. It tries too hard to be cool, and anything that has to try inherently isn't.

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Friday, 23 May 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

As a vampire movie it's pretty lame, but it is pretty fucking funny.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 23 May 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

We're all forgetting Vamp.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 23 May 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

spoiling the twist

What are you talking about? The entire ad campaign was centered around how this was a vampire flick.

Also, the second half of the movie sucked tremendous balls.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 23 May 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

How surprising that no one's countered all this with a mention of Salem's Lot. Surely if only for David Soul's floppy hair and flares, this has a major cool factor.

(Okay, it's not a road movie. But there are several shots of cars driving along roads...)

'Coolest' vampire movie - Daughters of Darkness w/ Delphine Seyrig (great Anne Bilson review of it in the Time Out Film Guide: "The screen oozes deathless style, and enough cod dialogue to stop the whole thing degenerating into Great Art. Gorgeous, absolutely bloody gorgeous.")

From Dusk 'Til Dawn doesn't really stand up to a 2nd viewing.
