Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 23 May 2003 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I was thinking this was going to be a thread about Alexandria, LA.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 23 May 2003 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I was thinking this was going to be a thread about all of OH.

Andy K (Andy K), Friday, 23 May 2003 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Gary, IN.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 23 May 2003 21:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Pine Bluff, Ark.

Jess Hill (jesshill), Friday, 23 May 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Anything that's a suburb of Bakersfield.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 23 May 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

You're being too kind to Gary, IN

oops (Oops), Friday, 23 May 2003 21:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been to both Battle Mountain, NV and Bakersfield suburbs, but the armpit winner by far is Atlantic City.

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 May 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Binghamton, NY and its outlying suburbs.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 23 May 2003 22:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Not Manassas, VA?

j.lu (j.lu), Saturday, 24 May 2003 00:24 (twenty-two years ago)

All of Texas except for Austin, Houston, and Dallas.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Saturday, 24 May 2003 00:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Festival of the Pit!!!WTF

kephm, Saturday, 24 May 2003 01:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i voted for boston as armpit-of-america. 97% of the people who voted in the poll disagree with me, though.

i think that a disturbingly high percentage of places in the USA could qualify for armpit-dom.

Tad (llamasfur), Saturday, 24 May 2003 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Kenan insulted me!

Dee the Semi-Lurker (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 24 May 2003 02:42 (twenty-two years ago)

d'oh. I remember reading the long feature article in the Washington Post magazine about Battle Mountain, NV. . It didn't sound like much fun to live there, but every time the Post sends one of their reporters out to amuse their readers with the quirks of small-town America.. it kind of makes me queasy.
That said, in the DC area itself I think Bailey's Crossroads, VA and Adelphi, MD could qualify..

daria g, Saturday, 24 May 2003 03:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Come on, anyone who's been around America knows its left armpit is Barstow, CA. I don't know what the other one would be... Tampa, FL?

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Saturday, 24 May 2003 06:06 (twenty-two years ago)

right now my apartment is the armpit of america. i gotta do a spring clean.

Tad (llamasfur), Saturday, 24 May 2003 06:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I assumed this thread was bait for Dave Q to come in and answer "England"

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Saturday, 24 May 2003 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

(He and I are producing a star-studded charity single called "Armpits Across America" -- Paula Cole just signed on!)

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 24 May 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Needles CA is worse of a west coast armpit than Barstow.

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Sunday, 25 May 2003 02:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the more urgent question is, what town is the Asscrack Orchard of America?

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 25 May 2003 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

presumably Asscrack Orchard, WI

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 25 May 2003 08:39 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, you'd think so, but no.

oops (Oops), Sunday, 25 May 2003 08:48 (twenty-two years ago)

It is outright shocking that no one has said "Jersey" yet since everybody I have ever heard use the thread-title phrase has been referring to nowhere else. (nothing personal there, Jersey, you know I wuv u)

M Matos (M Matos), Sunday, 25 May 2003 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I've not seen that much of America, but the least appealing part in my experience was indeed Jersey.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 25 May 2003 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, well fuck youse too.

new jersey (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 25 May 2003 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I did namecheck Atlantic City, NJ specifically, but I'm cool with the rest of Jersey

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Monday, 26 May 2003 23:54 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry, Chris, I just said that so Jersey itself would reply, and it worked, hoorah

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

the Armpit of New Zealand should play there

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 06:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Rockist Scientist, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 23:04 (twenty-two years ago)

centipede burt s (how's life), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:49 (thirteen years ago)

I ain't hatin on no armpit fro bro - just thinking bout that shee and what it's funk like - braukase

Brony 4 Life (Latham Green), Friday, 7 September 2012 19:10 (thirteen years ago)

Listen as a German I feel p OK about saying that stereotype or not it's often true that German women* do, in fact, have hairy pits. You could grow fruit in my aunt's armpits.

*I would venture to guess that this is not as true for younger German women but for the older generations shaving def was not so much a thing.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 19:16 (thirteen years ago)

I am 25% german but I don't like armpit hair in general

Brony 4 Life (Latham Green), Friday, 7 September 2012 19:21 (thirteen years ago)

kate78, Friday, 7 September 2012 19:57 (thirteen years ago)

(The Other) J.D. (J.D.), Friday, 7 September 2012 22:12 (thirteen years ago)

^^^^ i used to work for the editor quoted in this story, the one who was fired from the town's newspaper for saying 'that's about right' in response to gene weingarten asking her if her town was indeed the 'armpit of america.'

(The Other) J.D. (J.D.), Friday, 7 September 2012 22:14 (thirteen years ago)
