I love them all except Vegas Vacation.

Yeah. I like how the kids were different in every movie.

NA. (Nick A.), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Chevy Chase punching a roboticized moose in the face = I really did piss my pants laughing.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Anthony Michael Hall = best Rusty.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Chevy Chase is brilliant in these movies. Not quite as good as Randy Quaid. "That there is an RV."

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the Audrey from European Vacation. She was pretty obnoxious.

NA. (Nick A.), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

The first three films are the pinnacle of Chase's career, if you ask me (Fletch's supporting cast was nowhere as good).

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Vegas Audrey was hotttttt. Anthony is OTM.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Christmas Vacation is best. My family watches it every single year together without fail.

Sarah MCLusky (coco), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:42 (twenty-two years ago)

"Holliday Road" was one of George Harrison's favorite songs. One of my favorite songs too.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyone who claims "dud" will have some serious explaining to do.

"Jack be nimble, Jack be quick / take a ride on the West Coast kick... / holiday ro-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-ohd..."

Ben Boyer, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Dad, bedpans!

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic!

"Hey, Underpants !"

Fuzzy (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 22:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic.

I like European Vacation best when they wear personalised berets in Paris.

Ben Mott (Ben Mott), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

jumped the shark when they stopped showing boobs.

The scene where Clark discovers that he unknowingly dragged a dog to its death profoundly warped my fragile young mind, and for that, I am grateful. Seriously, I remember that scene absolutely blowing my mind - the cop holding the collar, Clark trying his best to act sad... And the setup was sooo inconspicuously done.

Ernest P. (ernestp), Thursday, 29 May 2003 02:04 (twenty-two years ago)

heh, I had a 'Vacation' experience of my own last week. Drove all the way from Cedar Point to King's Island (4-5hrs), checked into my hotel room, and found out the PARK WAS FUCKING CLOSED THE WHOLE WEEK. I couldn't remember how Clark hi-jacked the park, so I had to go back to Cedar Point.
Oh, classic of course.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 29 May 2003 02:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Every time I get cold I am tempted to say it's nipply outside. And sometimes, I do.

I watched National Lampoon Goes To The Movies, I think it was called, yesterday. No redeeming features at all that I could spot (unless you count naked breasts, which I sort of do, a bit) - even Christopher Lloyd wasw unfunny.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 16 November 2003 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Not only did the kids change but Clark's name changed too, from 'Griswold' to 'Griswald'!!!

dave q, Sunday, 16 November 2003 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I only watched the first one (many times) and parts of the second. The first DID make me almost wet myself. Chevy was never better which, these days, isn't saying much, I'll admit. The stuff with their visit to his in-laws, tying the dead aunt on top of the car and leaving her body in a chair in front of a relatives house with a note is classic stuff!

I also love the scene where he freaks and begins maniacally explaining that their trip to Wally World is no long a vacation but a quest.....a quest for fun.....and he suggests something to the effect that they're all going to have so much fucking fun that they won't be able to stand it.....as a parent, I love the sense of losing control without, of course, any real damage done. (That harmless losing control IS negated when he forces entry into the park by gunpoint)...

Over the top and funny as hell!

"He did what to your dog?!"

Jay Dee Sah Mon (Kingfish), Sunday, 16 November 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

The funniest movie was Christmas Vacation where there outside at the end when that old man lights his cigar and where Eddie had cleaned out "the shitter" into the drain it explodes and the santa clause and reindeer in the front yard gets blown into the sky and that old woman starts singing The Star Spangled Banner and they all put there hand over there heart, NOW THATS SOME FUNNY SHIT.

Whoever says vegas vacation is the worst show is a f**cking loser!!!
The worst show is European Vacation. That show is so boring!!!!

someone, Wednesday, 24 December 2003 04:44 (twenty-two years ago)

they had Christmas Vacation 2 on tv this weekend! it was a made for tv sequel and it was the worst piece of shit i've ever seen. randy quaid, one of the original audreys (playing a 30some year old horny teenager) and a bunch of other bullshit. they got trapped on a deserted island when in fact they were less than 10miles from civiliazation. sooooo embarrassing.

JaXoN (JasonD), Wednesday, 24 December 2003 06:46 (twenty-two years ago)

On my first trip to England I couldn't help giggling to myself when I went to see Big Ben. All I could hear in my head was Clark shouting "Hey kids look! Big Ben and Parliament"

National Lampoon's European Vacation is a key text of Brexitian cinema

Foster Twelvetrees (Ward Fowler), Monday, 1 August 2016 07:56 (nine years ago)

one year passes...

Caught some of Vegas Vacation on TV tonight. An embarrassingly sloppy piece of work--a criticism that has been (not unjustly) lobbed at Amy Heckerling's European Vacation as well, but at least that film understood the basics of setting up and paying off a joke. Even a record-scratch gag--a hacky bit in the best of circumstances--is so incompetently timed that it doesn't even make sense.

Ethan Embry, though? Ridiculously adorable.
