That's not really indefensible at all. It's just cool. Especially now that computers are getting more and more powerful just to keep up with games. I have as powerful a computer as I need to run Photoshop and Dreamweaver and Soundforge, and it's a cheap, cobbled-together mess.

Well, if you're the one paying for new equipment (and *someone* does!), then the "instant obsolecence" thing really sucks. If you're like me, a starving artist with a taste for high-end computers, it's the best thing ever. (Not many people in my crowd buying Sun & Cisco *new*.)
