FAP Portland this weekend

I am very tempted to come down to Portland, OR this weekend to repay kindness to the fine citizens that were kind to me this past weekend in Seattle, and also to see if I can sneak into of the forums at the Tape Op Conference also happening this weekend.

I certainly would want to hang with Chris P., the Minor thirds, Celesteville, Tape Mtn. Rock Krew, etc... and a few others non-ILXOR. But what about all your PDX lurkers?

Oh, I'm so tempted to go down, I missed all you guys for moving sofas & heavy boxes in NJ in the rain last weekend... I'm not sure about puppy-sitting, though. Argh, and I love pup, but I hate how my weekend trips revolve entirely around arranging puppy care.

What, like we can't do it again in September? Seattle is close to Portland; trips are made between the two all the time.

(I like me some Quasi but I've seem them so many times that the thrill is somewhat gone. But I might be convinced to go again.)

Yeah, gareth. It's a three hour drive between the two -- or a four hour bus/train ride.

Anyone else on the bill with Quasi? I don't mind 'em, but not entirely too familiar, and the few songs I heard didn't really charge me.

Also, admittedly, the likelihood of getting into a Tape Op show if you're not part of the conference might not be all that high. Maybe. I might be wrong. (Anyway it's not as if Quasi doesn't play all the time.)

Haha, well to put it as nicely as possible, there's nothing in the above that's making me want to hover. (However, there is one band in the above that I want to smother.. three guesses, and it ain't Malkmus)... Are there any other non-Tape-Op shows happening?

That said, there are a few people I want to meet that are Tape Op related and/or non-ILXOR.. so if any of you were worried about having to keep me company every aching hour this weekend, worry not.

oh, I love the train down to portland- it's usually my preferred way of getting there. :-) 4 hours with my laptop in a comfy seat, and the train station here is across the st. from one of my offices VS. fighting I-5 traffic (and my car's lack of AC) -> the train usually wins.

..just got back. something totally unexpected happened. I got into the Tape Op conference. Great great times had.

Funniest thing was Tape Op Conference crowd + Starlight parade crowd. Ooooh, imagine the crazy hijinx.

Me? I used to. Oh, how I miss it. I lived across the street from Movie Madness; Powell's on Hawthorne was a minute's stroll away. Theater pubs, more bars per capita than any city in the US, and the friendliest record store clerks anywhere. Sniff. (I'm in Oly now.)
